Trump Will Not Appoint Romney

On November 27, 2016 Kellyanne Conway questioned Romney’s loyalty to Trump, and questioned Romney’s judgment because of his attacks on Trump. She said that Romney lost states in 2012 that Trump won, and questioned what has Romney done since 2012 to warrant an important position such as Secretary of State. Ms. Conway stuck the knife in, twisted it, all with a smile on her face.

*snip*

After Ms. Conway’s takedown of Romney, all deserved, I cannot see Trump appointing Romney as Secretary of State. Romney did not merely criticize Trump’s polices, he viciously attacked Trump personally. There is not much difference in the personal attacks between Romney’s personal attacks and Hillary and Obama’s personal attack against Trump during the campaign.

Conway is a close advisor to Trump. She ran a brilliant campaign, and it seems she was sent out to knock down Romney. I cannot believe she would have said all this without Trump’s approval. This public humiliation of Romney is payback.

Exactly, one thing I think Trump is great at (I had a boss like this) is to float an idea for a policy or nomination to see how is team (or the public) reacts and what logic they have for or against it. Then in all these tidbits lies the correct answer of what needs to be done.

My old boss would float an idea we all thought was bad and then we would gang up on it together and work our way to an alternative that made sense that we all agreed with and bought into. If we agreed with his bad idea, then you got secretly labeled as a ‘yes man’ and you were like off to a new assignment.

That is leadership.

Wise decision. I don’t feel comfortable with Romney being third in line. He’s such a backstabbing schemer, who knows what he’s capable of.

Trump had something special for Romney. Play footsy, let Romney show what his true colors to all concerned and consider an apology for a position beneath Trump and then yank it away while Romney free falls after the knife goes in and gets twisted. His political career is over except running as the RINO he has always been.

Trump would recite "The Snake" at many of his rallies during the campaign. There can be no doubt that Trump realizes that Mitt Romney would be such a snake if he allowed him into his Administration.

He better not! I was almost a never Trumper; however, I did vote for him and even came closer to the Trump camp after reading "The Clintons' War on Women." Why not make me Secretary of State? Or better yet -- make Pamela Geller Secretary of State. After the way Donald Trump bad mouthed Pamela Geller and the support she gave Donald Trump, I think she deserves the job more than Romney does.

Perhaps the call originated at Romney’s end...he called TRUMP.

Perhaps Trump agreed to ‘talk’ knowing full well that Mittens would never fit on the hand of any. Business men, some enjoy humiliating their opponents.

Frankly, Romney could be ON HIS KNEES, apologizing to DJT and Trumpeters. I could care less. The man failed. End of story.

Those people were Bush people: Schmidt and Nicolle and Mark Wallace; they worked for the lame duck Bush White House and were assigned to McCain’s campaign and stabbed Palin in the back because she stood in the way of Jeb’s future projects.

Mitt was supposed to be McCain’s VP. Rove pulled a fit in summer of ‘08 when McCain refused and wanted to run with Lieberman in 08; the compromise was Palin.

You are right, Mitt’s people were involved with trashing Palin, but it was a joint effort.

Mitt is involved with the Bushes big time. Bigly.

I’ve been thinking ambassador to Mexico for some time....one because Mitt’s family was there before, but two it provides Trump a way of twisting the knife with Mitt by having him communicate exactly what Trump is going to do on a regular basis. I think Mitt would turn it down though - despite how it would look...but then that would be the end of any Mitt influence going forward - likely what Trump wants.

I would imagine she did this to help quell all the concern trolls who have been listening to the rumors and reading too much into their meeting.

Romney for Ambassador to the North Sentinel Island off the Indian coast

From the sky it appears to be an idyllic island with amazing beaches and a dense forest, but tourists or fishermen don’t dare to set foot on this outcrop in the Indian Ocean due to its inhabitants’ fearsome reputation.

Visitors who venture onto or too close to North Sentinel Island risk being attacked by members of a mysterious tribe who have rejected modern civilisation and prefer to have zero contact with the outside world.

When they do interact with outsiders, it usually involves violence – the indigenous Sentinelese tribe killed two men who were fishing illegally in 2006 and have been known to fire arrows and fling rocks at low-flying planes or helicopters on reconnaissance missions

I think it is sweet, mental, revenge. Trump calls Mitt comes running, and Trump says, “You’re unhired!”.

"...Why did he even bring him in for talks ?..."?

Romney represents the Mormon elites. Trump dictates to Romney, and Romney returns to his Mormon overlords and reports back.

“Why did he even bring him in for talks ?”

An effort to mend fences?

It was political performance art. He would have preferred that on exit, Romney pour urine on himself. Can't all go your way.

i believe the normal way to handle this is to make the announcement of the new SOS. torching romney in public -after Pence said he was under strong consideration - not presidential, not professional. i wondered why romney was named as SOS possibility by team anyway (not my pick) - but a public roast, just ugly, bordering on juvenile or perhaps airing team’s divisions in public. just not on board with these tactics.
