Headline error.
That aside, how outrageous wfc’s theory is will depend on the wording of the customer’s agreement with them.

We recently had the bank try to slip
In $$1800 of extra fees — after it promised there wouldn’t be any such charges. That included $500 for a phantom appraisal — the contract was for a no- appraisal loan!! Ungood.

Wow, you mean a “cost of doing (criminal) business” fine isn’t enough to discourage bad behavior? I’m shocked.

Even if one hasn’t been personally harmed by this conduct, and even if it is a major inconvenience, it is the obligation of every Wells Fargo customer now to close their accounts as quickly as possible and move on. They will not learn, and they are Too Big to be Spanked.

They should shut down the company and distribute all the assets between the shareholders & everyone that was defrauded.

Customer never agreed to have the accounts opened, never signed anything, never even knew it was being done until after the fact. Their signatures were forged by Wells-Fargo employees.
Talk about chutzpah and screwing their customers not once but twice. I have no accounts with them other than a mortgage that is a few years from being paid off. I’d refinance just to get away from them, but it won’t pay out.
I’ll have no desire to do business with such a miserable, dishonest company again, once I’m done and out.

WF needs to give every affected customer a few thousand dollars in addition to actual losses.
Their attitude proves they approved of the fraud.

I have multiple, legitimate, and very personal reasons for wanting to see these (pardon my French) motherf*ckers destroyed on every level, for both me, my family, and multiple former co-workers and employees. They are conniving, duplicitous, greedy, and amoral. I've dealt with them both internally and externally for several years, and they need to be sent to the dustbin of history. NEVER do business with them on any level. They are demonic on a corporate level. We've had to unleash the legal dogs on them more than once to send them scurrying back into the shadowy filth in which they reside. They are opportunistic SCUM unlike any bank I have ever associated with in all my adult life.

Seems to me that they’re trying to get the fraud charges dismissed by admitting to widespread and institutionalized identity theft. Not to mention criminal conspiracy.
I’m reminded of the story of a man who took out an insurance policy on a box of fine cigars. He tried to collect, saying that the cigars had been lost in several small fires. Even though he admitted in court that he had smoked the cigars normally, because the policy did not exclude it, the court ruled that he could collect.
The insurance company accepted the loss, then a few days later charged him with arson and insurance fraud. He was arrested, with his own court testimony used against him.

If there were any justice to be found in the Obama/Holder/Lynch “Just-Us” department, there would be RICO prosecutions in this and the VA hospitals, and the myriad Obama administration “scandals,” and we would be seeing REAL criminal persecutions of the many villains that have populated the government bureaucracy.

My hatred for Wells Fargo goes back several decades. I had a gross overcharge on my credit card that was their fault, but trying to reach anyone who could fix the problem was a nightmare.
I tried several times to work it out but each call ended with my being transferred to someone else and starting my long tale from the beginning. This went on over and over. After several calls I realized I was getting a deliberate run-around. To end the problem (and save my credit rating) I finally paid the overcharge, chopped up my W-F credit card, closed my account and have warned anyone foolish enough to do business with that fly-by-night outfit of the dangers involved.
