They didn't "find" any votes in that case. There were almost 1,500 ballots that had been legitimately cast but had been disqualified during the initial count, and they were added to the final vote count during the final canvassing process.
There was a lot of evidence of voter fraud in that case, but it nothing to do with the vote counting process. It involved questionable voter registrations and several hundred documented cases of felons voting.
