The incoming Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) told a room of policymakers in Europe on Wednesday that “migration is not the problem but the solution”, and said politicians should ignore voters. Speaking in Lisbon at the Vision Europe Summit, António Guterres said European nations have no right to control their borders and that they must instead take in floods of the world’s poorest people.
“The idea that management of migration is a matter of national sovereignty is extremely limited. The truth is that in the meantime, the real controllers of international mobility are the smugglers and criminal organisations. It must be recognised that migration is inevitable and will not stop”, the socialist told the crowd of policymakers and researchers.
Regarding priorities for the UN, when he takes over from South Korean Ban Ki-moon as Secretary-General, Guterres said he already has “several items to put on the discussion table to drive positive developments” with regards to the goal of making Europe accept more migrants.

The best solution about migration is to encourage the countries where people are migrating from to become like the ones that are destinations. That is what the UN should’ve been doing the past 71 years.

In the modern world of instant communication and the ability to travel between continents in under a day, a American billionaire in North Dakota has more in common with a Chinese billionaire in Shanghai, China than he does with his neighbor’s down the road. The culture of the West and northern Europe is individualistic, egalitarian, and much harder to control in comparison to tribal societies, Asian societies, or Latn societies. Let’s face it, most extremely wealthy people got wealthy because they’re narcissistic assholes and they would be quite happy to enact genocide on uppity Northern Europeans whether they were white themselves. The planter class in the antebellum South had nothing but hatred for the average white person whether they be poor or even a competent tradesman. There is a reason why the slaveowning class called everyone who didn’t own slaves “poor white trash.”
But, hey... Nikki Haley will be our ambassador there, so no worries, eh?
