Wisconsin could be at risk of missing a Dec. 13 deadline to certify its 10 electoral votes if clerks can't complete an expected recount by then.
Hitting the deadline could be particularly tricky if Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein is able to force the recount to be conducted by hand, Wisconsin's top election official said.
Stein who received just 1% of the vote in Wisconsin has promised to file for a recount by Friday's 5 p.m. deadline in Wisconsin. She is also planning to ask for recounts in Michigan and Pennsylvania, which have deadlines next week.
A federal "safe harbor" law requires states to complete presidential recounts within 35 days of the election to ensure their electoral votes are counted. This year, that's Dec. 13.
Stein is making her move for a recount as liberals raised fears about hacked voting machines. Election officials say they are unaware of any problem with Wisconsin's vote tally.
Republican Donald Trump edged out Democrat Hillary Clinton in Wisconsin, becoming the first GOP presidential candidate to win Wisconsin since 1984. Clinton lost by some 27,000 votes out of nearly 3 million cast.
Wisconsin law allows any candidate to seek a recount. The candidate has to pay if he or she lost by more than 0.25%.
Stein's campaign says it has raised more than $5 million this week for its recount efforts and estimates the Wisconsin recount will cost $1.1 million.
Meanwhile, independent candidate Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente said he formally asked for a recount on Friday. State election officials said they had not yet received the request from De La Fuente, who got 1,500 votes in the Nov. 8 election.

Thanks for doing the pingout, lucyt!
here’s another thread

that needs # 68 and # 74 pinged - to.
Stein is funny; she signaled hard against Hillary, mostly about war with Russia. It seemed at times that she would be no less happy with Trump than Hilary.
Why assume that it is only left-wing (Soros et al) forces at work.
The Never Trump movement (Bill Kristol, National Review, Chamber of Commerce etc.) has not really gone away. Some may appear to have bended the knee, but they would still like to de-legitimize Trump, to slow his agenda, all while moving full-speed with the Ryan agenda.
Remember Trump fought against the entire power structure (finance, media, academia, big donors, neo-cons and the pundit class, the tech industry, the cheap labor lobbies, the Republican establishment, etc.).
All of the above would like to stop or slow any Trump agenda. Many (not all) of the above would be happy with the Ryan agenda of open borders, big trade deals, privatization/trimming of Social Security/Medicare, etc.
Trump’s populist nationalism represents the first (albeit mild) opposition to the current regime of liberal globalism. Opposition to Trump is the kind of thing that could create strange bed fellows.
Even the MSM is wondering about the amount so quickly raised.
Michigan and Pennsylvania.
And THIS is it. The answer to "why".
So then what happens on Dec 13th? Anyone know?
The decision falls to the state legislature which is GOP. WI voters will not be disenfranchised from this election. We
From what I read, Michigan has already done a recount, required because the vote was so close, which is why it took so long to declare a winner. Trump still won. Is there any reason they should be required or could be forced to do another?
If the re-count can't be completed by the deadline or certification specified in the constitution, the state legislature is empowered to assign the state's electoral votes to the candidate of their choice.
Inasmuch as both houses of the legislature in all three states are controlled by Republicans, Trump will not be denied these EV.
You can say "Madame President." Not me.
Horseshit. This is only political theater. The election is over.
It will be granted in all 3 states. It’s a rigged system that they are pissed didn’t work the first time.
The attorney for Hillary Clintons presidential campaign, Marc Elias, here indicates the Clinton campaign will participate in the Wisconsin recount. He says if Jill Stein proceeds in Michigan and Pennsylvania, the Clinton campaign will participate in those recounts as well. Thanks to Political Wire for the link.
Its a two-pronged strategy. Peel off some Trump delegates through recounts, and more through intimidation/bribery of other delegates.
It could work if Trump's not paying attention, but I suspect he has people all over this watching over what's happening.
Can you imagine if our side was doing this?
These commie dems....if THEY “win” by one vote it’s fine and dandy, no need to check on the vote count, but if we win by 27,000 here in Wisconsin,,,oh hell yes they’ll cause trouble and “recount” which only means “bring out the trucks full of fraudulent ballots”.
I hate these leftist cheaters.
There had to be 3 million illegal aliens who voted for HildaBeast. Had to be up to a million other fraudulent dem votes.
They cannot believe they didn’t cheat enough to pull old Hilda over the finish line.
It would be wall to wall media coverage, and everyone going completely bonkers over it.
Liberals can always count on conservatives keeping calm and quiet when Dems do this sort of thing... and that could very well be our undoing at some point... especially if they succeed at this fraud.
I remember seeing something somewhere about that: donations clicking up in a very regular pattern at all times, even when US (the expected location of donors) would be asleep.
Do you have a link? I remembered reading but could not find the link again.
I’ve thought that there could be some GOP-e/#NeverTrump hands contributing to Stein’s money pot.
