Advocates of public education in the United States have worried that President-elect Donald Trump would tap an education secretary who would speed up the privatization of public schools, a move that many fear could destroy Americas public education system, the countrys most important civic institution. Well, they were right about the appointment and then some.

Seen by her supporters as a tireless, driven supporter of school choice, opponents say she is the most ideological and anti-public education nominee ever to be put forward to run the the nearly 40-year-old department.

SC & charters are a SOVIET MODEL.

The tantrums of snowflakes are a testament to the indoctrination going on but Trump is not addressing he is steering the ship right into the iceberg. School Choice is a Soviet conception. Carnegie and the globalists have been plotting for this...we are going to have to fight this.
“The problem really isnt the teachers, or the curriculum, or how much money you spend. Its the students, and the home culture they bring into the schools. “
Bingo! I’d rather have my daughter have a lousy teacher at a private school than a great teacher at an inner-city public school.
Local school districts have been forced to adopt programs they didn’t want because of threats to take away federal funding of regulated programs that were in place. Instead of providing technical assistance to the school districts, state boards of education became police dogs. Drain the swamp!
We have teachers in our family. I understand the situation well. They have a hard line to tow at times. I understand what you are saying about the unions but there are some real problems with some of the leadership in the higher ranks right now (I have identified more than just a few protesters / activists that are union leaders doing research who were former university students; this is something I stumbled across that I thought was nothing then found out there was not just a spark but a fire started). Maybe if they’ll clean that up and some of the associations that have contributed to getting the students to turn protesters to march at their schools on this anti-Trump stuff. IMO unions getting students to protest a president’s election using the professors or even suggesting it should fall outside the scope of their job duties. I can understand if they told their employees to strike but we’re talking students here who are not under their authority. I think they have clearly overstepped their boundaries.
if they can work this the other way around and get private schools to operate on budgets where the parents of the students can afford to pay the property taxes where they can attend and be cost effective I can see your point. The problem I've always encountered with private schools is that they are so much more expensive than public schools. Compromises would have to be struck. I do get what you are saying though.
“Learn to read first I think.”

Ironically, had you read what I posted and linked to from the Heritage Foundation writer, you would have been able to reply to the actual content of my comment.
But since you didn’t, I thought I’d gits myself out and mebbe hunt me down commies, too. I mean, you can’t have all the fun ta yerself, dagnabbit!
Now, I’m a-fixin to pick me some polk salad and whomp up a mean mess of it - a’huntin reds gits a fella powerful hungry.
And that our Children are mandated to go these school(communist indoctrinating centers) and our income is taken from us at the point of a gun to pay the salary for these bureaucrats and union member that don't have competition which would hold them accountable
They’ll be stuck with the worst students whether there are charter and private schools or not. The difference is that with alternatives, the students that do want to learn will not be forcibly confined with and pulled down by the worst.
Do not think your analysis proves true in practice. Schools will lose students and money if student numbers go up and excellence subsides.
Public schools don’t lose students under the same scenario.
First things first. We must illuminate the seriousness of charters/choice/vouchers this was a planned operation from the marxist globalists. I pray Trump catches on...
As for getting money back out of the gov. it ain’t gonna happen. its a trick. The costs will just go up and they will raise taxes.
we must get our kids out of these schools. I am paying 5K year for classical education. Very advanced Christian based. Two days on campus. There is a way out. We have lost our schools. They have outmaneuvered us between Fed dumbing down (DOE) or corporate fascists directed ed scheming. We have to redirect people’s attention to CHOICE and block this BS. The lady Trump got will push this.
What you posted! LOL!!!!
When you have a private school you have to produce an excellent education as in any private business to retain students(customers).
A government monopoly like government public schools don't have any competition and won't lose students even though too many of them produce the worst most unimaginable products and services imaginable.
A private business has to produce a excellent quality product , efficiently , at a great value to remain in business today. And they have to do it better than all competitors in a free market. Government Regulations just limit competitors that can't meet those regulations so it lessens competition.
Blackberry produced an excellent cell phone and had 40% of the market .But along came Apple and Steve Jobs with the iphone which destroyed Blackberry, Nokia etc and so now iphone has 50%of the market because the iphone was superior product . this is why competition is key in producing excellent products. Now ihpone and android are in competition .
For example there are these private coding boot camp schools now And they pop up because government schools and , government regulated colleges don't teach the iT tech skills businesses need. But still these coding schools re not really free market businesses as they give government backed school loans etc.
sO if we remove these government regulations like the school loans etc we would get closer to real free market principles. compare the invovation in smart phones especially android phones now . It's because there is less regulation in those industries that there is more innovation, lowering of costs and improving of quality.
Education is a a service just like any other as these 33 private coding boot camp schools show

Huh? How do you get rid of public schools without charters/choice/vouchers, etc.? Please explain.
Thank you for your posts!
Here in CT, public education has been saddled with the outcome of *Sheff v Oneill*.
http://sheffmovement.org/history-2/
Inner city/urban students now can apply to charter/theme schools outside their neighborhood; transportation provided.
A few parents are involved and aware of the opportunities for their children; these parents get their kids into charter schools, even if there is a waiting list or lottery. So, slowly but surely, the old neighborhood schools have decreasing populations. Empty buildings, still with the same amount of staff; than some vocal parents [left behinds] are screaming *injustice*, b/c of talk of closing some schools to save money.
So what did the elites think was going to happen when they complied with the law? It’s a circus. A zoo.
Always, at the end of this food chain are the kids ....they always come last to the do-gooders, policicians and power elites.
And yes, many of them, are the troublemakers, low performers. The thing is, public schools *must* accept whoever shows up at their door; unlike private schools or some charters, entrance tests and standards can be applied to *exclude* certain children. So we’re back to the beginning.
Absent from this discussion is the fact that few, if any parents are truly *involved* in a meaningful way their their child’s education.
Don’t get me started about the fact that *special-ed* classes were dissolved ... SE kids dispersed into regular classrooms, all in the name of inclusion.
Sorry, Miss Lady. Went to Parochial school all my life. You mess up once, then out you go — unless it is in the middle of football season and you are a star player. Then you get to stay until the end of the football season, then out you go.
Add to your observations, the obscene salaries that *administrators* and principals get for pretty much doing nothing, all day long.
Urban schools went through, and are still going through a period od *affirmative action* hires in PS administrations; over time, these AF hires were/are involved with deep-seated nepotism. A mess.

Public schools must take all comers to their doors.
Parochial/private schools do NOT have to take everyone; hence the difference.
