Now that South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has a new job, eyes are on her successor. Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster will be assuming the governorship as Haley prepares to become President-elect Donald Trump's ambassador to the United Nations.
Cue the online biographies for McMaster. A few highlights on his resume include: Army JAG officer, United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina under President Reagan, chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, South Carolina Attorney General and (current) Lieutenant Governor of the Palmetto State.
Despite being part of the party "establishment," McMaster endorsed Trump way back in January, calling him a "man of accomplishment" who has a "quiet compassion" for those in need. As such, Trump can expect to have a cooperative friend and partner in South Carolina.
It's a win-win for President-elect Trump.

Hi.
“Trump is playing chess while the press and the democrats are playing checkers.”
Yep.
5.56mm
Probably.
Do not get your post.
During President George W. Bush’s second term, every questionable move he made was met with cries of “strategery” from the diehard Bushbots, implying that there was some deep, underlying unspoken motive that actually was quite conservative, just you wait and see. Turns out that wasn’t the case. “Strategery” was nothing more than a mispronunciation. I’m seeing hints of that kind of thinking beginning to arise now, and I will throttle the first person that says it in relation to Trump.
Trump is a planner and strategist.
Yup, and many one dimension FReepers never considered the plan.
LOL!! Good thing you can’t reach me through the interweb! See my post #2.
I don’t ever need to hear that stupid word again, it was used to excuse every delusional, deceptive bass-ackwards thing W ever did. If you want to devolve into a totally mindless cheerleader why don’t you revive the daily worship thread.
Trump ain’t W. He’s got a tad more brainpower.
“Addition by subtraction in SC. Linda is next.”
That would be INGENIOUS, but I don’t think Linda would be willing to give up his perch as the official ‘Divided Spokesman’ for the Republican Party.
I was going to note that as great as this guy appears, he is part of the Establishment that has STILL not figured out a way to get rid of Linda...which is the REAL PRIZE.
True, he is not W. He’s responded well to constructive criticism while on the campaign trail, so just don’t turn into the amen corner, OK?
I’m sure he’ll mess up. They ALL do. I’ve only voted for one perfect candidate since I first voted in 1971, when I turned 21.
Myself, when I ran for a city council seat in 1982.
He may not have begun as a politician, but he’ll become one on January 20. There never has been a perfect politician. I want Trump to succeed in implementing what he has said he will do. I do not want him to veer off into the weeds of compromise in the name of getting along, collegiality, whatever anyone wants to call it. Outcry from his supporters should prevent a fair amount of that. I do believe he’s well intended and that he loves his country, and our country. But, he’s from NYC and he’s going to DC. Neither of those environments are conducive to remaining conservative, and we do him and ourselves no favors by excusing or rationalizing, if and when he goes off the rails. So, no flippin strategery. Just no.
Insightful. She has governor creds now. Next on resume is U.N. ambassador, great media coverage to boot (vs where? oh, SC). Not many options for moving up.
Also got her out of S. Carolina. Now I can get my flag out and fly it again when I visit the CONFEDERATE cemetery.
Too late. 2nd post!
Be a shame if he fired her quickly. And she couldn’t work in in govt for 5 years. Oops.
EGO. She has a “cabinet post”.
