Agree. This gives the RINOs hope. I don’t want them to have ANY hope. I want RINOs dejected and depressed.

Ditto! I hope Trump doesn't make the same mistake Reagan did in letting too many RINOs--Bush, Regan, James Baker, Howard Baker, etc.--into his administration. They sabotaged his policies and eventually brought the Reagan Revolution to a halt.

I think its point of view. People that see the world as a chessboard or battlefield understand that things are not as they first appear. The first response from someone with that mind set is “How does this advance our goals and what are we giving up to get there”?

People with a more linear thinking pattern see weakening in a direct line approach to an endpoint. They fail to understand the lesson of our first war. The Brits advanced in formation and got gunned down in ranks. The Americans thought about how to make their weaknesses into strengths.

Because he is not about pay back he is about winning. Sacrificing the opportunity to sideline someone who is hard to work with and antagonistic while bringing in a closer ally rather than making it about enemies/friends.

Good advice. lol. Waking up this news got me a little rattled and in need of grammar check. I had hoped this fan of radical Syrian “refugees” would disappear from the government employment.

You would be fine with Jeb Bush as Sec of Homeland Security?

What would we gain? Why would that be a good chess move?

there is some major rationalizing going on in this thread. then entire notion that trump "kicked her upstairs" to get her out of SC is just bizarre. the lame duck governor of a deep, deep red state with a mere 9 electoral votes three weeks after a presidential election is perhaps the most insignificant form of life on earth.

his reasons for this move are indeed mysterious, but if anyone thinks that the did this so he could take over the awesome federal power center called south carolina is moderately insane.

What are we gaining with Romney and Haley?

He’ll get Haley over at the UN and then he’ll withdraw funding and kick their headquarters out of the NYC! LOL

Plus - a real Republican will take over as governor and Lindy Graham won’t have his buddy Nikki to cry on her shoulder.

Not a natural born citizen, her parents were Indian nationals when she was born. Ineligible to be President or Vice President.

I am not aware Romney has been confirmed by Trump for any position. Haley is sidelined into a position of no consequence and can be removed at Trump’s pleasure. We gain a Governor who is a stronger ally, the Lt Gov of SC will move into Haley’s position.

I think you are off base. There are many of Trump’s campaign promises that will need to be implemented jointly by the States. Every Governorship counts. To return education to the States & communities, dethrone Common core and facilitate charter schools will take a group on the same page.

This was predicted by Scott Adams (Dilbert) here:

“But Trump has a more solvable framing problem. Clinton’s team labelled him a racist, homophobic, sexist. Trump can violate that frame enough times to break it over time. But it will take a lot of cracks. You’ve already seen several. Expect more to come.”

being from new jersey, I'm going to cut you some slack for not knowing that all of those things would be supported by the majority of the electorate in SC even if one of the horrifying kardashians was governor of SC. I mean, it's SC.

if this bizarre little theory held any water at all, he would have offered the UN ambassadorship to the governor of a purple state that had a democrat governor and a republican lt. governor -- where he would actually (possibly) accomplish something.

there are some people on FR that need to dial the weirdness back a few clicks.
