"Should California become a free, sovereign, and independent country?"
The question could appear on a statewide ballot in 2018 if a group of secessionists has its way.
Marcus Evans, the vice president of Yes California, filed a proposed ballot measure with the Attorney General's Office on Monday that would appear on the November 2018 gubernatorial ballot.
If voters approve the measure, it would establish a special election in March 2019 to ask voters again if they want California to become an independent country, Yes California wrote in a ballot measure filing.
More than half of the registered voters in the state must participate in the special election and at least 55 percent must vote "yes" for the proposal to move forward, according to information submitted by the group. If voters approve the measure, "the governor shall carry and shepherd an application for the newly independent Republic of California to join the United Nations," they say.
Evans said the group filed the ballot proposal in response to an uptick in support in a deep-blue state following the election of Donald Trump.
You may think, what does it matter? California can't unilaterally decide to withdraw from the Union. But you forget, there are two legal standards: one for conservatives and one for liberals. Conservatives are prosecuted if they choose to disregard laws or even regulations or court decisions on marriage being redefined to include same-sex couples, letting boys in girls' bathrooms, or voter ID nullification. But liberals are held to a very different standard. They create sanctuary cities in defiance of federal law without consequence. They legalize narcotics, first timidly for "medical" use, then boldly for "recreational" use, despite prohibitions in federal law, and have suffered no penalty for it.

Yes, this would be appropriate for California. Let the large cities and illegals demand secession (you can bet a lot of illegal La Raza will vote for secession). Create East California out of the area not seceding, and then go in, occupy, and name the remaining West California.
Nobody is going to “go in and occupy” CA if it secedes. Nobody wants a war. Nobody cares.
Reduced? Succession would mean that they don’t have any Federal government support at all correct? What would they do without Federal funding of I don’t know...everything. Their infrastructure, their schools, their welfare programs,their prison systems, and all the Mexicans they’ve taken in..lol. If they really did do this you’d see them deport illegals aka burdens so fast your head would spin. What will they do for their defense? The military will be gone because that’s a US Federal institution. Not sure they thought this through. These people don’t believe in rugged individualism or guns, or anything that would make you be able to be a successful sovereign state.
Let California secede from the union. Then the US can invade it (American imperialism at its finest), destroy the Marxists and their structures (ideological cleansing of the red scum of America), and then reintegrate it back into the USA (not the United Socialist States of America).

If Californians do secede “they” are going to take the whole state with them and ain’t nothing you or I will do about it.

Let’s see if I can help you partner. On April 15th instead of the check going to the US Treasury, Californians will write a check to the Treasury of the Republic of California. Meet the new boss same as the old boss(just closer) in Sacramento. Secession doesn’t meant no more having to pay federal taxes. It is just a new address to send the check.
Losing CA would be worth any non blood cost. AMF.
Yeah....but the Central Valley and west CA might start an innerstate civil war. I could see giving them a leg up.
I did read the census numbers and their stupid explanations. I also checked the demographic data for California.
I am not incorrect. Whites are still the majority though by only a little bit. It won’t be that way for long

I live in Washington, I would hope that the nation does not kick us out because of Seattle and King county morons.

Start on the west coast and head east. Deport!!
Start with the prisons and then punish the employers who would hire such with taxes or fines and imprisonmemt. "Are we going to have a country or not?"

Just because it might make it to the ballot, it doesn’t mean it would pass. Not everyone in CA is an idiot.
The northern inland counties are mostly Republican, but not that many people live there.
They do have water, which much of the rest of the state lacks.
Starting to break up the US, though, would be a massive blow to our national self-confidence and our influence in the world.
Even here at home, the American model would lose its appeal and we'd come to adopt more foreign ways and attitudes.

Why would they pay federal taxes to Sac? CA would be a huge net loser. The military bases and all federal contracts would be pulled, along with welfare, the ports run by the federal port authority and so goes the list. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t support letting them leave, maybe?
Too bad, so sad. I mean maybe Putin will take it over before China gets to it. Either way.
The state is drowning in red ink. They are taxing business out of business. Without federal dollars, they will sink. Take away the millions that the feds dump into that state and take it away and see how far they get. They will drown in red ink.
