So if the U.N. position is so unimportant, why did the left stop Bolton from being appointed and then go apoplectic when W made him a recess appointment in 2005? Freepers always want it both ways. Dem resistance is the gauge to whether a Trump move is correct. This Trump being the second coming is going to break a lot of hearts around here.

I tend not to care who goes to the UN from either side. Perhaps I’m wrong on that, but I don’t see it as important other than an opportunity for a symbolic fight. They can motivate their base by claiming they stopped Bolton or perhaps Haley if they attack her, so they make it an issue. The reality is that the UN Ambassador cannot stray too far from the positions decided by the president and will not have much power even to influence President Trump on those positions.

Because the UN is important to the Left, and Bolton saw the UN for what it is.

We’ve got enough problems to fix both at home and abroad. It’s not necessary, at this point, for Trump to be thumbing his nose at the UN. Appointing Haley to this position is his way of saying “here’s a Republican of color, elected in a deep Red state....stick that into your diversity pipe and have a good smoke, Lefties”.
