Tommy Hilfiger: Designers should be 'proud' to dress Melania Trump © Getty Images Tommy Hilfiger says fashion designers should be proud to dress incoming first lady Melania Trump and not politicize the issue.
“I think Melania is a very beautiful woman and I think any designer should be proud to dress her,” Hilfiger told Women's Wear Daily.
“I don’t think people should become political about it. Everyone was very happy to dress Michelle [Obama] as well. I think they look great in the clothes. You’re not gonna get much more beautiful than Ivanka or Melania.”
Hilfiger's comments come after designer Sophie Theallet said she would refuse to dress the incoming first lady and encouraged others to do the same. She called her boycott a protest to Donald Trump's "racism, sexism and xenophobia."
"As one who celebrates and strives for diversity, individual freedom and respect for all lifestyles, I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next First Lady," Theallet wrote in a letter.

Funny how refusing to dress someone out of political principles is acceptable, but refusing to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple out of religious principles is not.

Hilfiger, simply understands economics and is probably smart enough to know that Mrs. Trump is going to be THE most watched fashion woman in modern history. She will rival Princess Di.

I think Mrs. Trump is old enough and classy enough to dress herself. The fashion critics went crazy over Michelle Obama which proved that they were heavily into drugs. Michelle needed someone to dress her. Where were they?
