He spoke in two capacities; as president elect and his personal opinion.

He will not use his office to interfere in the investigation (to take them off the table), which is as it should be. Law enforcement should be allowed to do their jobs. But his personal opinion is that it would be hurtful for the Clintons and divisive for the country.

I don’t see that he is wrong in either capacity. The dems will squeal like stuck pigs over the continuing investigation because they will get tarred and tarred again by association, plus who knows who else in dem leadership is at risk of exposure.
