I doubt this happened. If it did then I’m sure any off the record pre-agreement would be tossed just so the MSM could show he is out of control.

Who has total control of the greatest and most important news source in the world? Donald Trump! He has the power to withhold all access to his administration.
If they don't play fair, he kicks them out of his White House. If they try to fake it they get it wrong. If they have to report it second hand, they get scooped by the guys that do it right.
If Trump cuts them off completely, they dry out and wither on the vine. If they wither on the vine, their gravy train turns into a trickle of vinegar. The reporters and anchors know that access is their daily bread. If their network tries to play hardball with Donald Trump, the reporters and anchors are the ones that pay the price.
Going forward, look for Donald Trump to do some masterful manipulation of the mendacious Main Stream Media, just as he did through his whole campaign.
