Trump 'will use Nasa climate change cash to fund Moon missions' as part of his bid to 'Make America Great Again'
Donald Trump may use climate change research cash to blast astronauts back to the Moon as part of his mission to ‘Make America Great Again’.
Members of the US space community believe Mr Trump’s presidential victory could lead to the resurrection of space agency Nasa’s lunar programme, which has not put a man on the Moon since 1972.
The huge cost of lunar missions has been the main reason for their demise, blocked either by presidents or Congress. However, Mr Trump pledged in his campaign to ‘free’ Nasa from researching global warming and other mundane operations close to Earth. Instead, the US will ‘lead the way to the stars’.

There’s water on the moon. The moon isn’t at the bottom of a huge gravity well. A moon base could be used as a way-station for exploration (colonization) even of the solar system.
Even if we were to study climate change seriously, shouldn’t that be with NOAA funds, not NASA? Just sayin’.
NASA does some atmospheric science.
It seems there is a strategic angle wrt the Moon. The idea of Russians, Chicoms or muslims militarizing the Moon doesn’t seem too cool. It’s like anything else - whoever settles it first is in a better position to influence or dictate terms of settlement.

Most of all, Trump needs to end the NASA Muslim outreach idiocy.
This is great, we need to be on top in space.
NASA should be folded into the DoD, since the high ground (space) is a position of advantage for the military.

Exactly. NASA should be out of the climate change business and focus on their specialty, outreach to the Muslim world.
Good idea... There is tens of billions of tax dollars stashed away for Liberal minded climate change global warming BS projects. Take that money and spend it productively or even better, offer taxpayers a tax break.
And Trump should make it clear that the United States will not pay Carbon taxes levied by foreign governments on any goods imported or exported by the United States. Such a move would essentially end the ‘Carbon Tax’ debate forever.

Trump is a populist, not a constitutional conservative. I’m pretty sure that space exploration was not an enumerated power! Anyone hoping for a small government conservative will be disappointed but if we are going to spend money we don’t have on projects not authorized by the constitution, then space exploration is much better than building mosques overseas as the current administration is known to do.
Don’t repeat anything you said in post 5 to a liberal. Facts confuse them.
