The Hamilton actor who drew fire from Donald Trump for addressing Vice President-elect Mike Pence from the stage said Monday hes not apologizing and invited the president-elect to come see the Broadway smash himself.
Brandon Victor Dixon said he spoke to Pence on behalf of the cast at the request of show producer Jeffrey Seller and has no regrets for being the face of Friday nights controversial monologue.
Theres nothing to apologize for, the actor told CBS This Morning.
When you have a platform, art is meant to bring people together and meant to raise consciousness. And when you have a platform like that, I told Jeffrey Seller after the show, I applaud you all for not throwing away your shot, for taking a moment to spread a message of love, to spread a message of unity.
The line Im not throwing away your shot is one of the most memorable in Hamilton, as the title character vows not to shy away from a huge challenge.
After Hamilton ended Friday night at the Richard Rodgers Theatre with Pence in attendance Dixon pleaded with him to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us.

I went to one once: the audience was 80%+ women. I have had better times at the DMV. Never again.
I agree in spirit but, like so many other LEFTIST STATE actions, it allows the LEFTIST, who have little qualms about using the power of government, a weapon with no payback. What I would like, in a perfect world, a counter that shows the number of biased Governmental actions against the conservatives in a LEFTIST administration and then do the same to count-DOWN so as to give the LEFTISTS a disincentive!

Problem: Need them for business - no viable alternatives.
Solution: Anti-Trust
He sees himself as the NEW, enlightened, Thomas Paine.
He’s paid to act in a play, not to deliver his personal political comments to a specific person seated in the audience. If he wants to do that, he should run for office.
Broadway goes Kaepernick. It sure has been great for the NFL, not.
I wonder how Brandon Victor Dixon would feel if several people tried to engage him in a meaningful conversation in the middle of his little show. After all, it’s just trying to start a dialogue by exercising First Amendment rights. Nothing to apologize for.....
Not even mentioned. So typical of the media, only one side of the story. Anyone lecturing Hillary, Obama, or Goofy Joe would be excoriated.
I’m wondering where Pence got the tickets in the first place. Were they given to him so he’d be ambushed. (Wait, let me adjust my tinfoil hat here.)
WHAT WOULD DONALD DO in the same situation?
I’m betting he woudn’t have been as “gracious,” if that meant putting up with the politially stupid BS. Pence reminds me of Romney when he came up against Candy Crowley and Obama. Why the F should we continue to be “gracious” when the other side only interprets it as weak? Ever work in the inner city? They will try you just to see how much crap you’ll tolerate. If you continue to turn your other cheek you’ll end up losing your ass.
Trump being invited to see the play "Hamilton" is like a Republican being invited to speak at the NAACP Convention. You can always count on being lectured on race, verbally accosted, disrespected, and accused of things you never did.
Is there any chance that this kid is the son of Ivan Dixon- the actor that played in Hogan’s Heroes?
His face reminds me of that actor. Still can watch those old shows on local TV.
I do not care if the Hamilton cast apologizes or not.
What I do care about is having conservatives attend performances of Hamilton.
Let the liberals spend their money on liberal activities and causes.
When the liberal organizations financials go sour, the organization will cease to exist.
Made me sick to watch. It’s over due to teach respect for the presidency. Obama was given more respect than he had coming, but just the same, he was given respect. Seems to me that when he spoke to congress, and someone yelled, “you lie” that person was quickly admonished.
Then you have the lawlessness of the sanctuary cities.
The Hamilton cast are a bunch of losers. The play I’m sure is a joke, but people are afraid to admit it, so they go along with the hype.
Disgusting is the only word for it.

I go to things like this, musicals, plays, opera because my wife loves them and it makes her happy. I wouldn’t go on my own, but if it brings her pleasure to have me accompany her (and I’m sure she firmly believes it will give me some “culture”) I am more than happy to do so, because... well... I like to see my wife smile. :)
Mostly yawn-inducing. Basically "A Night Out", that my lovely wife enjoyed, and still comments on from time to time. While not having the appeal of a good tractor pull or sports event, it was one of those things that's on the list of husbandly duties that must be performed occasionally. Frankly, I've had to do worse.
However, plunking down a week's salary (or more) for tickets for such an event would be insanity.
I don't understand why every conservative would not do the same.
I don't understand why every conservative would not do the same.
I'll bet he gets some kind of gig in hollywood because of it. Disgusting.
You ARE correct.
