Vice President-elect Mike Pence confirmed Sunday that Mitt Romney is in the running to be Donald Trump's secretary of state.
'I can say that Governor Romney is under active and serious consideration to serve as secretary of state of the United States,' Pence told CBS News' John Dickerson on 'Face the Nation' Sunday.
President-elect Donald Trump and Romney, the GOP's 2012 nominee, seemed to bury the hatchet at a meeting yesterday in New Jersey, after Romney called Trump a 'fraud' and a 'phony' during the Republican primary this spring and Trump had referred to Romney as a loser and a 'choker.'
Pence said Trump was 'very grateful' that Romney came to Saturday's meeting.
'We spent the better part of an hour together with him,' he said. 'And then I know that the two of them actually had some private time together.'
'I would tell you that it was not only a cordial meeting, but also it was a very substantive meeting,' Pence revealed....

He’s obviously a capable man, and trust is a big issue, but real politik says Trump is stronger with a united party when legislation starts moving through congress.
To hold his coalition together Trump must deliver for middle class workers in terms of jobs, manufacturing staying home, and protection of our markets.
That’s where the establishment will oppose Trump.
I think this post needs a “Barf” Alert.
Abraham Lincoln come back from the grave couldn’t have won that election 11 months after JFK’s assassination.
Remember when Reagan won, he had to deal with a Rockefeller Republican-dominated GOP Establishment that had vehemently opposed him throughout the years.
Did their cabinet members actively trash them during the campaign?
Yes, some did.
That would not be a popular selection around these parts. And it is hard to see how Romney could be the lead man for a foreign policy that would indeed be “foreign” to him.
So I will be surprised if it happens. If it does then I expect Romney to tow Trump line and be ready to make it sound like he believes in it. Otherwise he will hear these famous words: “Your’re F...ed”. (Don’t count the dots - one of the missing letters is an R).
Trump has shown that he is quick to pull the plug on people who are not working out.”
and how
This is not Trump’s first rodeo in dealing with difficult people. I’d give Trump the benefit of the doubt here unless Mitt actually ends up being an “Et tu Brute.”
If a Mitt knife comes out, I think a Donald machine gun will, too.
Yeah... and everybody knows it.
However, being on the list doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot more likely choices ahead of him. Only if those more likely choices all decline, would Mitt be it.
Romney is sucker bait.
And Mitt being on the list might be Donald’s way of coaxing uncertain people that he prefers, to commit.
“I like him for Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Romneys got a good business mind and could tear that place up and rebuild.”
But he wouldn’t. He is not a man of good character. He is a weakling and a leftist at heart.
Your argument would be more convincing if you had more capitalization and exclamation marks, ya noobian princess.
I don’t like it either, but I don’t have ten billion dollars or two jets and the Oval Office sofa to stretch out on .... so I’m going with the Trump flow on this one.
Trump hurt the gingerbread boy
Cause he’s pretend-bread boy
Little cookie man, never waved to him
So he got knocked out
Man Trump flow~!
La jiggy jar jar doo, dur dur dur dee dur
Man he just flow
Shoe shine
To be replaced with what? Why not pick that other person in the first place
Maybe Trump knows things we don’t
The most I would trust him with is ambassador to Zimbabwe or some other backwater country.
I don’t think Romney will be part of the Administration.
Pence could not possibly tell the truth and say, “We are not seriously considering Romney. We’re just pulling his chain”.
To get his other picks past GOPe he includes Romney in his slate as an offering to get total deal done. It is deal making 101.
