Since Nov. 9, Donald Trump has been described as our “President-elect.” But many would be shocked to learn that this term is actually legally meaningless. The Constitution sets out a specific hurdle for Trump to ascend to the presidency. And that will not happen until Dec. 19 when the members of the Electoral College meet in their respective states to vote for the President.
It’s these electors who actually hold power under the Constitution to select Donald Trump as president. They should take that responsibility very seriously. They owe it to all Americans to deliberate on their choice in the manner required by the Constitution.

No, the Electoral College was a compromise to prevent the most populous states from selecting the President, leaving the less populous states with no say in the choice.
Hillary didn’t build a coalition of states. She tried to campaign in and make promises only to populous states like CA and NY. Therefore, she lost.
In other words, the EC is working exactly as intended.

On the contrary. What TIME is advocating is that the electors become faithless, and vote for Crooked, against the wishes expressed by a majority of voters in their respective states.
They aim to elevated the electors above the will of the people, much as representatives have no obligation to vote according to the will of the people.

I’m sure Time did an article in 2008 that pointed out there was on such thing as “The Office of the President Elect.”

Actually, the Electoral College worked exactly as it should have by evening out the votes among the states rather than only in the population centers.
