Complete Headline: The face of defeat: A weary-looking Hillary Clinton makes her first appearance since her concession and admits that 'coming here wasn't the easiest thing for me' and she wanted to 'never leave the house again'
- Hillary Clinton attended the Children's Defense Fund's gala in Washington, D.C on Wednesday evening
- It was the failed presidential candidate's first public appearance since she conceded to Donald Trump a week ago
- She considered cancelling her speech, saying she 'wanted to curl up with a book or our dogs and never leave the house again'
- Said she drew inspiration from the organization's founder and her mentor Marian Wright Edelman, who introduced tonight as the 'people's president'
- Clinton also talked about her mother, Dorothy, who died before her daughter became the Democratic nominee for president
- She tip-toed around her opponent as she delivered her address blocks away from his recently opened hotel and his new home
- Donald Trump did not come up, though she appeared to make reference to him when she speculated about the nation's 'uncertain future'
A weary-looking Hillary Clinton said Wednesday evening at her first public appearance since she conceded to Donald Trump that she considered cancelling her speech to the children's advocacy group but kept the commitment out of respect for her mentor.
'I will admit coming here tonight wasn't the easiest thing for me,' she said at the Children's Defense Fund's gala in Washington, D.C.
The failed presidential candidate said 'there have been a few times this past week when all I wanted to do is just to curl up with a good book or our dogs and never leave the house again.'

This time they intentionally did not put a lot of makeup on her in order to show the world what a victim she is. Oh, poor Hillary, a victim of the cruel Donald Trump. My God, look what “they” (the primitive and mean, knuckle-dragging, redneck Americans) did to her. Oh the humanity...sniff*, sob, sob...

But at least she has the temperament to be president. Of North Korea. She has the wardrobe, too.

Does anybody believe that Donald Trump would have been such a drama queen had he lost the election? If she can’t handle losing, then how does she think she could have handled the pressure of being president for 4-8 years?

Seems to me Gore was also called “the people’s president” for about two weeks back in 2001.

Yep. Id answer with a Jefferson quote: I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just.Very apropos, Bill.
Jefferson referred to the sin of slavery in the land then.
Now, even with the sin of abortion and over 60 million dead children, God has blessed our nation with another chance, in Trump.

Everything they do is theatre. You can tell she has had a professional makeup job. They were told to tone it down and leave off the mascara.Correct. This is, after all, the very bunch that made "focus groups" a permanent fixture. There is no way she would appear without any makeup - a truly candid photo could be too damaging down the road - and her hair isn't unwashed, it is "uncoiffed." Hillary with a bad case of bed head and no makeup would be a subliminal deal breaker even for many of her sycophants.
The last two weeks have been interesting as far as her appearance goes, going from filtered video (the modern equivalent of the gauzed lens) to stills that are almost Dorian Gray-esque. This particular "look" shows at least one approach that Team Clinton is willing to take in order to - yet again - re-invent itself.
