Build the plant in a right to work state in the south like the Japanese do.

I always liked the little boxed styled Bronco.
Lately I have been seeing some late 80s era full sized ones on the road.

“The Koreans are making plenty of small cars in the Southeast (USA).”
To my knowledge they have no UAW presence. The UAW literally owns GM.

Ford wants to go out of business, evidently.

Make the small Fords in South Carolina? Ford has a UAW problem.
Do you really think Ford management has been ignoring the very real possibility that DJT might be elected President and that a revamp of their plans might be necessary?
Considering how shocked everybody was last Tuesday, yes. They will certainly adjust to the new reality, but will also have some say in what that new reality is. Trump can't unlilaterally impose tariffs.

Ford has a UAW problem.
At their Ford plant(s) in Mexico?
At a new Ford plant in South Carolina?
To: just me
Right! consumer reports have toyota and subaru rated at the top, and assembled in the USA.
To: Resettozero
Anywhere in the US, the UAW contract is valid.

I don't think you've been listening. But carry on.

You may in for a surprise.

How’s that? Trump voids all union contracts by executive fiat? Imposes tariffs without Congressional approval?
To: monkapotamus
Hey, no problem, Ford. Just pay the tariff on each car you build there when you ship it here. Or good luck trying to sell it there!

I don’t disagree at all that the UAW, and unions, especially public service unions, are a bane on our economy and freedom, respectively.
However, you said small automobile production wasn’t profitable (in the USA), and I believe that is not true.
To: wally_bert
Good luck to both of you. I drove by there a couple weeks ago, certainly off the beaten path. The area will boom in a couple years.
One thing SC does well is bring in good paying jobs.

No and no.
You seem to be stuck on the idea that there's no way Ford small vehicles will be manufactured again in America after Ford's planned move to Mexico.
UAW in South Carolina? Whatever you say.

This is correct. I’ve been trying to explain to people about how CAFE forces manufacturers’ hands, but, like most government regulations, it’s complicated and hard to explain.
