Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is under consideration for attorney general in Donald Trump's administration, a Bloomberg News reporter tweeted Tuesday night.
Cruz was seen earlier in the day visiting Trump Tower in Manhattan, where Trump's transition team is talking about Cabinet level positions.
Trump himself tweeted about 30 minutes after Jacobs announced her "scoop," saying he alone knows who will get job offers.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Trump supporter after dropping out of the race, said a Cruz hire would be "a big shock for me," considering the acrimony between Trump and Cruz during the GOP nomination process.
"We all ran together, but there was never a group hug that involved Ted Cruz," Huckabee said on Fox News Channel's "The Kelly File."
"I would be very surprised if that was the case," he said, but admitted, "This election has been made of surprises."
Cruz is not well-liked by his Senate colleagues on either side of the aisle, so if he is nominated, he might get 100 percent confirmation support, Huckabee said, "because he wouldn't be in the Senate, and they haven't been that happy with him being there."

I agree. Best in the SC, or leave him in the senate to work with the Freedom Caucus folks in the house.

I LIKE the idea of him at AG. Because he’s an @sshole. I like the idea of an @sshole at AG. Worked so well for osamabama and Holder.

As we have seen with Issa and Gowdy, there are degrees of fervor in prosecuting offenders. While there might not be reason to fire an AG, which would take quite a bit of difference between Prez and AG, there are many gradations of sincerity and perseverance and aggression.
I want someone who has law enforcement in his DNA. No one better than Rudy. I understand that Rudy deserves a promotion, for his record and for his loyalty, but he would serve us all best as AG.
That said, I don’t think Trump should go after Hillary. I could be persuaded to think about this further, but healing the nation seems so paramount right now.
I will never trust Cruz. I’m shocked that Trump does, or may.

I like the way you think.

Cruz is in the right place right now. We definitely need him in the Senate as a watchdog against McConnell. He’s well positioned to be reelected because his primary opponent will be running as an ally of McConnell who is certain to be seen as a disgrace by then.

Full disclosure - I am a Cruz fan.
That being said, I have seen his name thrown around for both Attorney General and Supreme Court Justice. I understand his character flaws and that he can be off putting to many people. I understand his assets and know that he is conservative to a fault and a stickler it’s principals in an almost autistic manner.
This is why I think he would be better as the Attorney General. As a Supreme Court Justice, his arguments opinions and lines of questioning could influence the other Justices. If he is as disagreeable as people say, he could push moderate Justices to join with the liberal opinion.
As Attorney General, your only allegiance is to the Constitution and the laws of the United States. The more enemies you have in DC (one either side), the better job you are doing for the American people. I don’t want a politically savvy AG who knows how to schmooze all the right people. I want an unfeeling, uncaring robot who does nothing but enforce the laws as they are written.

Maybe Trump’s thinking, “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.” Cruz IS his enemy!

He didn’t win all those cases at SCOTUS, you know. And one of them was dubious on its face as a matter of justice, with Cruz on the unjust side in the opinion of many.
To: Right-wing Librarian
You are seeing it clearly. The Cruz 2020 movement is alive and well and AG is the perfect platform from which to undermine the president. Excellent post.

SCOTUS, please.

My thoughts exactly. He had EVERY chance to redeem himself, and failed repeatedly. How could he ever be trusted after his disgusting behavior at the convention? The convention was Teds time to kiss and make up. He receives the daily intelligence briefings of the uniparty and was dead certain like the others in the Washington cartel DJT would lose.
In Ted's heart (I know I can see into it, weird) he believes in identity politics, something Trump slaying the PC dragon's avoided.
iCruz would rat copulate President Trump in a heart beat -I doubt he gets the nod.

Go with Cruz. He is from one of the redest states and would be replaced with another red stater. Only Oklahoma is redder. God bless those Oklahomans.

Ted Cruz is fine right where he is. As long as he is made Senate Majority Leader.

I’ve lived in Texas twice, and no, they don’t have longer memories. Besides, Oklahoma is the redest state. Texas gave us LBJ.

Don’t hold your breath. AG is a plum job that will go to a Trump loyalist.

Exactly. Cruz is despised by the DC establishment and the old media empire. You can tell a good man by his enemies and President Trump knows this fact too well.
