Steve Bannon's white nationalism targets people of color and immigrants
CNN ^ | 11/14/16 | Ruth Ben-Ghiat

Posted on 11/15/2016 12:34:02 AM PST by T-Bird45

Anyone who is surprised at the appointment of right-wing guru Steve Bannon as the Donald Trump administration's chief strategist and counselor has been living in an alternate universe, the universe in which President-elect Trump would "pivot" into something resembling a mainline GOP conservative.

And anyone who is amazed at Trump's temerity in putting a white nationalist into the White House has gravely misunderstood the power of racism in fueling his campaign, and the desire to "turn back the clock" to a time when white men supposedly ruled supreme.

Above all, they've forgotten the cardinal rule of Trumpworld: attachment to profit and the Trump brand is a means of increasing influence and power over others. As CEO of Breitbart News, Bannon is key to that strategy, in America and beyond.

The left/ socialists/ communists/ get themselves all
Parroting the same things — without ever offering any proof. It often turns into a very loud cacaphony of lies. The public is sick of it.

“Why are Trump’s people still going on CNN? Wake the hell up, they are our enemies...”

Exactly. The sooner these “news” stations are relegated to the dustbin of history, the better. That will happen when Trump people don’t visit ..and we don’t watch.

CNN cheated during the debates. They should be completely ignored by the Trump admin.

And therefore to CNN, its OK to oppose the law, since its opposing white nationalism.

CNN is supporting anarchy.

I have been taught to write the “BLUF”—Bottom Line Up Front. So, if I want to make a claim, I better put the evidence for it in the leading sentence and expand on it in the rest of the piece. Obviously, this CNN author was not taught effective writing.

For the Left, the claim is the evidence.

Reinhard Heydrich would have probably handled these protests a little differently.

If we really *were* Nazis, you wouldn’t have to explain it to people. And the people on TV trying to “explain” it certainly wouldn’t be there.

Bannon’s effective. So, he must be destroyed. A tactic to dismantle the effectiveness of the Trump White House.

Probably been said already, but:

CNN obviously hasn’t learned a damn thing.

“Oh I know how to change everybody’s minds and attitudes. Just keep calling them racists and misogynists and homophobes and xenophobes and Islamaphobes and Nazis! That’ll do the trick!”

Ugh.

Fascist Modernities: Italy, 1922-1945

“Ruth Ben-Ghiat’s innovative cultural history of Mussolini’s dictatorship is a provocative discussion of the meanings of modernity in interwar Italy. Eloquent, pathbreaking, and deft in its use of a broad range of materials, this work argues that fascism appealed to many Italian intellectuals as a new model of modernity that would resolve the contemporary European crisis as well as long-standing problems of the national past. Ben-Ghiat shows that—at a time of fears over the erosion of national and social identities—Mussolini presented fascism as a movement that would allow economic development without harm to social boundaries and national traditions. She demonstrates that although the regime largely failed in its attempts to remake Italians as paragons of a distinctly fascist model of mass society, twenty years of fascism did alter the landscape of Italian cultural life. Among younger intellectuals in particular, the dictatorship left a legacy of practices and attitudes that often continued under different political rubrics after 1945.”

“Ruth Ben-Ghiat is Professor of History and Italian Studies at New York University. She is a specialist of 20th century international and cultural history. She writes on war, fascisms, empire, authoritarian personalities, and the politics of images and sound. She has received Guggenheim, Getty, Library of Congress, NEH, and other fellowships. I looked at the most 'egregious' Bannon statements. I agree wholeheartedly with three of them, and the fourth is an allegation by a divorcing wife:

  • “Are there racist people involved in the alt-right? Absolutely,” he told Mother Jones at this year’s Republican National Convention. “Look, are there some people that are white nationalists that are attracted to some of the philosophies of the alt-right? Maybe. Are there some people that are anti-Semitic that are attracted? Maybe. Right? Maybe some people are attracted to the alt-right that are homophobes, right? But that’s just like, there are certain elements of the progressive left and the hard left that attract certain elements.”

What's so bad about this paragraph? Bannon is 100% right. He never says he backs their comments, he says they say them.

  • “That’s one of the unintended consequences of the women’s liberation movement––that, in fact, the women that would lead this country would be feminine, they would be pro-family, they would have husbands, they would love their children. They wouldn’t be a bunch of dykes that came from the 7 Sisters schools.”

Other than the dykes slur, Bannon is spot on.

  • “They’re either a victim of race. They’re victim of their sexual preference. They’re a victim of gender. All about victimhood and the United States is the great oppressor, not the great liberator.”

WHO CAN DENY THIS??? This is 100% right!!!

It's the typical propaganda we have come to expect from the Ministry of Propaganda Media.

They make a charge.

They produce ZERO evidence.

They keep repeating the charge.

They never stop.

her evidence for Bannon's "white nationalism" is weak, IMO

In these people's minds anyone who espouses western culture and ethics is by definition a racist. In their relativistic delusion they live in, we who see Western Culture as superior are stupid morons who are inherently racist. We are not "nuanced" to see that other cultures have equal billing. Western Culture is the product of evil white Europeans so it doesn't matter if its practice lifts up those who practice it regardless of their race and ethnic origin.

Bannon is the perfect poster child for their delusion. He's religious, worked hard to go to Harvard Business School and get where he is. He and Trump are Western Culture personified. The idea that you push yourself to achieve is a western ethic (not exclusively of course). If we had all American's following their example there would be no need for the Democrat party.

In a perfect world the professor would be relieved of their duties until the delusion passed. But in today's world their delusion is championed by the MSM because they share the delusion as well. So you can't argue with delusion you can only point it out to them and watch them get violent because you have attacked their delusion.

“They’ve so slaughtered the definition and made the concept so all-encompassing of a white person’s very existence that it has ceased to have any bite.”

Agreed. It has essentially become the equivalent of a child calling a classmate at “poopy-face”.

One caveat, though. I have been called a racist more times than I can count, when in fact I should a been called a “bigot”, which I freely admit that I am. It’s actually very amusing to witness the reaction of liberals when I correct them and admit to being a bigot rather than a racist (they are idiots and don’t know the difference between the two words).

A bigot is a person that discriminates based on how they judge another person’s actions, habits, statements, life-style, etc. And when you get down to the cold hard facts of the matter, everybody is a bigot to a certain degree.

And after admitting to being a bigot, and when given the opportunity, I then explain that I refuse to associate with drug-addicts, drug-dealers, thieves, pedophiles, pimps, whores, rapists, career-criminals, gang-bangers, anarchists, idiots and liberals, regardless of their race, creed, color, nation of origin or any other self-identifying characteristic because THAT would be racist). Thus, by the very definition of the word “bigot” I am a bigot and make no apologies for that fact.
