Michael Moore appeared on CNNs State of the Union Sunday and suggested it was time for Democrats to think about running beloved non-politicians like Oprah Winfrey and Tom Hanks for president.
CNNs Jake Tapper played a clip in which Oprah expressed her renewed hope based on what she saw last week during Donald Trumps meeting with President Obama. To hear president-elect Trump say that he had respect for President Obamait felt that he had reached a moment where he was actually humbled by that experience
I think everybody can take a deep breath, Oprah said.
Michael Moore replied, Well, thats why we love Oprah. He added, Somebody needs to say that. We do need hope. But then Moore went on to say, Look thats the sideshow that needs to happen in a week like this but, frankly, Democrats would be better off if they ran Oprah or Tom Hanks. Why dont we run beloved people? We have so many of them. The Republicans do this. They run Reagan and the Terminator and other people. Why dont we
why dont we run somebody that the American people love? he said.
This is exactly the turn I predicted Democrats might make when I wrote about their thin bench last Wednesday:

And, of course, we’ll hear nothing about “experience” again, will we?
Actually Michael YOU should run......a few laps around a track, if you know what I mean.
So they still aren’t getting it. Good.
Trump was NOT just an outsider. He was an outsider when people wanted change and wanted what the “insiders” had done to change.
If Trump is even HALF successful in implementing his policies, there will be no change mandate in 2020, so running an inexperienced outsider will backfire.
Cankles tried to run on experience, but when things are going badly, that experience is in failure.
How about you run, Moore—on the Stupid Fat A$$ party.
LOL, I see what you did there.
Most politicians are in the business for life, and they have legions of ‘hangers on’ that have to be fed.
That Trump was able to overcome this was revolutionary.
Could the rats have a similar revolution? Not while they’ve got so many super-delegates in the primary. The party allegedly for the ‘common man’ has backroom deals as the backbone of their existence.
I am curious, however, to see which rat has the spine to endure a campaign against Trump next.
I’ve seen that before. She’d have to get a Governorship or a Senate seat, and serve as such for a while, before she announced otherwise even the NY Times would see her candidacy as a joke.So 2020 is unrealistic...but 2024 might not be.
Theres NO Bizness like SHOW bizness
If you’re democrat
Oprah could bully half the world into respecting America because she’s black woman and they owe her
And Tom Hanks by movie roles has spent more time in uniform than most democrats so there’s our Commander in Chief
People didn’t vote for Murphy because he was a good dancer. They believed he would make a fine Senator.
That was just for the camera, the papers and nit-wits like you.
Moore is delusional, I like his idea because it’s stupid and won’t work. In fact, perhaps they should run Alec Baldwin.
Donald J. Trump... ‘most interesting man in the world’
Tom Hanks said we attacked Japan in WW2 because of racism.
He would be perfect for a democrat candidate.
This is what happens when blacks, hispanics, women, gays and other assorted “food groups” are elevated to top positions in an organization. Incompetence. Hint: put the best at the top, ignore attributes which have no effect on job performance. If Trump appoints a gay female black hispanic to a top post there is only one reason: she is the best. Looking forward to the years ahead.
my guess... Liawatha... depending upon how trump does. Bernie was on the right track sort of with the for the common man theme before hellery shot him down.
The difference between President Clinton and President Trump is that the people waiting outside her door are owed something by her. Those outside Trump’s door owe something to him.
The sad thing is that the Democrats could run Kim Kardashian and lots of people would vote for her.
