I believe Trump will take a Sawsall to the entire military procurement process. He’s known for delivering ahead of schedule and under budget.

Its not so much rebuilding our military, but the fact that the Pentagon needs to be changed & transformed to improve readiness to deal with with China, Russia, ISIS, etc

The defense secretary pick will be critical - will we get a GOPe stooge like Ayotte or someone who will transform the Pentagon.

Dominion over the sea lanes of communication has always been the key to power.

The Navy should receive 1/2 of all new military spending until they can put 100 Destroyers and 50 attack subs to sea at the same time and as a matter of normal deployment rotations.

And we must be able to sustain 4 Carrier battle groups on continuous deployment, again as part of normal rotations.

And be able to surge to 300 destroyers, 100 subs and 9 Battle Groups within 45 days.

Lest we lose the nation.

The first thing is to fire Ray Mabus and get a Secretary of the Navy in there that wants the best fighting force, not the most politically correct.

I would say build a few more shipyards that can make an CVN. The USA has ONE shipyard that can build a CVN.

We need to clean up overall DOD acquisition. If we take 8-10 years or more to field weapon systems or platforms while Russia and China do it in 4 we will lose. No ifs ands or buts. We have to get innovative in DOD. Innovation and rapid enhancement initiatives has been killed over the last 15-20 years. Sad but true. Got you IA, cyber, safety, security, sustainment, producibility, quality, configuration IGE, .... Statements evaluated and signed? No go back to start do not pass go. Can’t get safety statement without IA. Can’t get IA without cyber. Can’t get cyber without safety. Giant ass circle jerk jobs program for the buricratic NO team.

Two actions which would yield immediate results would be to re-activate the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) and activate another Tactical Support Wing (TSW) (Reserve Air Wing) with a full complement of aircraft and personnel equivalent to an active duty Carrier Air Wing.

The USN has only 10 large deck aircraft carriers in commission at present, and with the teething problems USS Gerald Ford (CVN-78) is having, Kitty Hawk would take up considerable slack until the USS John F. Kennedy (CVN-79) is commissioned in 2020.
