Secession is a goal of, and a victory for, those who seek the destruction of the United States.
Kind of harsh about “productive citizens are seceding California now and what is left is dumber and lazier.” I applaud the younger generation just starting out that can pull up stakes. Some of us retirees have raised our kids here, own our homes, pay our taxes, have never been on welfare, have our medical plans here that can’t be moved out of state, have friends and family here, and pretty much are stuck until we assume room temperature. I still feel like a “productive citizen” by paying my full share,, and not a “useless eater”, a phrase coined during the Obummer administration..
I agree. No one should be able to force their produce on others, particularly onions. I mean, after all, our onions are far superior to your onions!
Well wait. Then I want a state of Mojave.
All of SoCal east of the San Gabriels, south of the Tehachapis and North of Brawley.
I hope the CA secession movement gets some traction.
I think northern CA can then say hey if you can split from the US, we can split CA.
Tell ‘em not to let the screen door hit ‘em in their pilates-toned buttocks on the way out.
Then re-route the Colorado river so it bypasses Kalifornia.

I suspect that almost all of the people who want to secede live in the LA and San Francisco areas. If they did leave, then most of the rest of the state would choose to secede from their newly formed country and rejoin the US. That would leave them isolated and without Uncle Sam to support them.

This sentiment does not square with what the genuine expression of American political philosophy: “That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government ...”
Back in 1990, the ruling elite in the Kremlin thought the government and borders of the USSR had been settled in 1945 in much the same way.

(I wrote this in reply to a FReeper that was getting worried about California pulling out. Bottom line - not going to happen.)
Relax, I have relatives in California and certainly don’t want them being forced to live in Mexico (i.e., if they secede and then become part of Mexico).
But take comfort because it WILL NOT HAPPEN. Liberals have never been content to take their piece of the pie (California, in this case) and leave others alone - no, what they CRAVE is power over those that disagree with them. They don’t really care about uncontested power over California, what they want is uncontested power over Texas (i.e., conservatives - to shove it in our faces).
And for that reason, they will NEVER let California go, as it destroys their chance of getting power over Texas. It’s only talk. Now, if Hillary had won, I was convinced there would be talk about Texas pulling out - and that would be SERIOUS TALK, and of course the liberals would do everything they could to stop it (including civil war)...thankfully that will not happen either now.
I guess kind of like South Florida belongs to Cuba and South America.

The United States is one nation under GOD, INDIVISIBLE, with liberty and justice for all. If Californians don’t like it, they can leave.
I haven’t been there in twenty years. A wall will help. If even half would go home, CA could be red again.
Disconnect them from the power grid and let them self-sustain. See how long they keep those wind and solar systems.
I said this on another new topic. I’m all for Kalifornica leaving. But, they only get to take the blue parts, and they don’t get San Diego. They must also take the blue parts of Oregon and Washington.
Nice to do would be to test kalifornican invaders to other states - if they can’t pass a real citizenship test (ie, they are too commie) they must return to the blue sections of Kalifornica. All illegals left in the red sections can go to Mexico or the blue parts of Kalifornica.
Next, we negotiate with Canada to take New England perhaps trading it for the evil Alberta, Yukon, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories.
The issue of secession was settled in the period 1861 to 1865. The present day secessionists are a group of nuts. Remember the phrase “United we stand divided we fall.”
Have fun defending your coast with a bunch of fishing boats and captured drug subs.
