The ironic thing is that a vast majority of Americans have never even seen a NY Times.
While there are still school libraries that have some subscription to the NY Times....I would make a guess (at least in my home state of Alabama), that it’s less than one-percent who’ve read one single edition of it. In the whole state...there might be 500 folks today who get a daily copy of it....most being college professors and multi-million types.
When I worked in DC (2010-2013 period), I probably up one copy a month when it had some write-up on the front page that interested me. Beyond that....I think it’s mostly trashed itself up enough, that there’s no profit left to be made. Whoever owns it....is pumping cash in quarterly to keep it afloat. Same with WaPo, Time and NewsWeak.
The only US paper that I generally recommend is the Wall Street Journal. I like the Daily Mail and Telegraph out of England.
