This is where the high-stakes negotiations come in. My guess is the final deal to BHO will be (1) no pardons - to anyone; and (2) leave politics - no speeches, no involvement of any kind.

There's no reason why 100s, if not 1000s, of complicit traitors shouldn't be uprooted and punished. BHO can skate free himself if he simply steps aside and lets the cards play out.

The alternative is running the risk of himself getting caught. There are many avenues to circumvent presidential pardons, including compelling persons to testify in front of GJs without the ability to invoke the 5th (ie contempt). Trump could also pick up and bundle anyone off to the Hague or other country's - say Russia - judicial systems.
