The short answer is yes and no. The monster vote showed up for Donald Trump, in specific regions.
However, the cocktail class republicans stayed home or voted for someone else in other regions.
When we originally (February 16) forecast the possibility of a 73M general election vote for Donald Trump, we held the following caveat:
[ ] The question is, how many Republicans will stay home (anyone but Trump) and how many Democrats will stay home (anyone but Clinton)?
While some Republicans may refuse to vote for Trump its doubtful they will vote for Hillary. However, inversely, a fair amount of Democrats who refuse to vote for Clinton will likely cross over and vote for Trump. (link)
While there is some data still outstanding, it appears there was a stronger than anticipated coalition of traditional republicans (GOPe strain) that did not vote, or perhaps voted for Clinton or a different candidate. (emphasis mine) This depressed the top-line national vote total.
Fortunately, non traditional republican voters turned out significant enough quantities to offset the GOPe losses.

If Trump is successful these next four years (and he’ll need some cooperation from the NeverTrumpers to make that happen), they’ll vote for him in 2020 (or Pence).

Staten Island, one of NYC’s 5 boroughs, voted for Trump @ 57%
As you say. The Big Ten country showed up.
Because Big Ten country had been neglected in all the political strategists’ calculation. But Trump tailored his campaign and spoke their (our) language. And therefore, the monster votes showed up there.
Even now, other post election analysts are too busy tearing into the perceived buffoonish clown (Trump), they don’t realize who and what Trump represent.
>>> Donald did it even better than most traditional politicians, and here he is a newbie.
Even as a newbie, Trump had help. But.
Give him credit for picking out the right people.....
. . . except, of course, for Illinois and Minnesota.
At that 8:30 point in your graph, my wife said the calvary is coming to save us and it made her feel like Sabaton’s “Winged Hussars” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75zmIj_4LFQ . A little over the top, and instead of Hussars rescuing Vienna from the turks, we had Pennsylvania Amish patriots being driven to the polls rescuing American from the Hillary, but watching the hidden voters actually turn out was one of the best moments of electoral history I’ve ever experienced.
I don’t have the statistics in front of me, but Trump won Missouri by 26%+. His Coattails were long enough to wipe out EVERY down ballot State wide Democrat on the ticket!
In Pennsylvania it had to. To overcome the fraud out of Philadelphia.
When did the networks call WI for Trump?
That was my “WTHeck, I can’t believe it” moment.
“do we know how many Evangelical came out for Trump? I know of several that voted for anyone but.”
I heard on one of the news shows that he got the highest percentage of Evangelical vote ever. I want to say it was high 70s/low 80s percentage-wise.
