"Trump was able to get elected because he was a "reality tv" star."
This is my only comment of the night: for me, this election was a referendum on the media as much as anything else, and the media lost. And nothing was more typical of the media than the comment above, in which they all adopted the phrase "reality TV star" to describe Trump, ignoring his years as a major businessman, years which made possible his derivative stint as a television personality. These same people never snarkily referred to Sen. Al Franken as "Stewart Smalley" or as a mere "TV personality," but as someone with the gravitas that you presumably obtain merely by being a Democrat.
So the media can screw itself, and I very much doubt they will learn a lesson from this. They are incapable of learning because they think they know it all.

Steve, remember how they depicted Reagan? Senile, old B list actor. Let them eat cake!

There’s actually something to that, though.
As a “reality star” and public non-political figure for the last few decades, hes not someone that 49 states basically have never heard of, who has to spend half his time (and money) introducing himself, and who can be easily characterized by the mass media as something that he isn’t because few people know him. That is why none of their traditional attacks worked on him, among other reasons.
