RALEIGH - The Latest on Election Day in North Carolina (all times local):
1:30 p.m.
The Southern Coalition for Social Justice is among the organizations asking that polls stay open an extra hour in Durham County because of problems there.
The coalition and other organizations coordinating North Carolina's Election Protection Coalition sent a letter Tuesday to the State Board of Elections asking that polls close at 8:30 p.m. rather than 7:30 p.m.
The request came after a computer problem resulted in elections officials relying on a paper check-in process, resulting in at least one precinct running out of authorization-to-vote forms.
Observers and lawyers need to converge on this place now.
Blatant, isn’t it?

Durham County is as blue as they come in North Carolina thanks to a high black and Hispanic population and Duke University. I’m not surprised they got the extra hour OR that they screwed up their voting.

Why is it that only deavily democrat precincts need to stay open late because of “problems”?
I understand this. It takes the dead a long time to walk to the polling place.
Maybe Nifong will be counting the votes. Is he out of jail yet?
Translation...the bus from DC is running a little late.
