My guess is the SAC NY office in conjunction with SACs in DC pressured Comey. Many sources, nearly all Murdoch sources reported a federal grand jury was about to convene over Weiner’s computer texting. Which would be a federal crime as it crossed state lines. But I have never actually heard that such a grand jury actually was empanelled. If USA Eastern District had the case and did not go ahead with a grand jury then agents, and I don’t mean the grunts, but the SSACs in NY and DC may have gone to Comey. Now why did Comey back off today saying nothing on the computer that they didnt have before? That I have not even conjecture. But here is a eild wild after half a fifth of JD guess. He was shown polling that Clinton will win, not by a lot but a win. He would then have to deal with criminal charges against a POTUS elect. Two words come to mind Constitutional Crisis. So he buries it now and tells the SSACs it stays butied for the good of peace in the country, knowing he won’t be in his office on 1/21. But hooking up with a big time beltway or NYC white shoe law firm.

Presumably these are not DOJ loyalists. Is that correct?

If so, how would they have gotten info from Loretta Lynche’s appointees in the Brooklyn FBI office. Who naturally would want the matter buried until after the election.

And if Comey concluded that there was no there there— how could the SAC NY office in conjunction with SACs in DC pressure him to reopen the investigation.
