Washington (CNN)Hillary Clinton has more money, a much longer political resume, a better-organized campaign than Donald Trump and a lead in national polls.

Yet Clinton's running mate, Tim Kaine, says she's the underdog.

Tim Co-Kaine is right about the “dog” part.

And the glory of having a top dog and an underdog, is that much more often than not, top dog whips the underdog’s azz.

Simply because one or another may be the “underdog” does not endow that one with any special virtue. The underdog is the underdog for a reason.
