Yep. With 10 days to go until the election this hot potato doesn't need to be in anyone's hands for more than the minimum time necessary or it starts to burn. The DOJ can't run out the clock and going forward is risky too. The FBI can't credibly clear 650,000 emails in the time allotted, but all it takes is a second to happen across that one that blows the whole thing up. There are going to be some sweaty late-night conversations in DC for the next few days.

not difficult to get a warrant on a Sunday. there is always a duty magistrate or judge available 24/7/365.

I got a search warrant on a Sunday afternoon. I had to meet the magistrate at her condo pool where I swore to my affidavit and she signed it. (with people hanging out nearby)..for a relatively routine matter only reason for quick warrant was evidence might move..
in real exigent circumstances one can be had telephonically.
