They probably got the news to Giuliani. Then, he told them to let Comey know what they had, or G told Comey to step up to the plate or get destroyed by this.
Then, if Comey did nothing, they would go global with the breeches of National Security with redactions at first.
That would have removed not only Clinton, but Comey, Lynch and any rat involved in the emails.
