Is the FBI or the NYPD investigating Weiner’s sexting? If it’s the NYPD,they may have pushed Comey against a wall with what they discovered. Even the NY branch of the FBI might have told him to get with the program or they talk.

You make a good point. The head of the New York Field Division is an Assistant Director in Charge. It’s well known within the Bureau that the major field divisions tend to “do their own thing” and are often accused of acting like their own agency.
I suspect we’ll find at some point that some members of Congress (Gowdy, Gohmert, etc.?) found out that some agents offered to testify under oath and those members gave Comey an ultimatum: “Come clean or the next investigation will be targeting you.”
