This will become an existential moment for the MSM.
If Hillary goes down, and they are seen as stooges who helped her with “the con” at every step, then they have nowhere to go. They’ll be seen like Stasi informants after the reunification of Germany. Nobody will hire them. They’ll have “HACK PROPAGANDIST” stamped on their biography.
They need to come back to the side of law and pretend they really were investigating her. That is, if they want to retain a granule of respect or credibility forever.
It’s definitely a setup. But I think it was designed to make it easy for Hillary to trigger the collapse. Obama is narcissistic, but Hillary is a maniac - she WANTS to be the one that triggers the final collapse. She hates America -and all of humanity, really - with a blistering sadistic rage. Her followers are like tribespeople hitting a nuclear bomb they found with rocks. Moron doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Plan B, of course, is to let it fall on Trump. But he’s like an EOD specialist, and he has no intention to cut the wrong wires.
It’s going to be pretty tough to put this Genie back in the bottle. If Comey comes out and says “never mind our bad” it will make matters even worse. Don’t know if this will kill Hillary but it takes Trump out of the news and puts a wounded Hillary right in the cross hairs.
Comey was appointed FBI Director in 2013 and serves a 10 year term. He’ll be Director until 2023 unless impeached.
My guess is that Weiner might have threatened Huma not to divorce him or he will spill the beans on Huma feeding top secret information to the Muslims.

I am thinking there is another law enforcement jurisdiction involved, that is aware of what is going on and has issued the FBI an ultimatum.
Higher than that. I think it is the Joint Chiefs of Staff. They like us have had enough of this corrupt government. They have the muscle to pull this off. They have info which proves obstruction of justice from the POTUS on down plus a corrupt Congress which will not do its oversight. I bet they have threatened him to do his job and nail everybody or they are going to take action which will yield very, very unpleasant results. Better to face civilian justice than UMCJ type of justice system.

You think Comey doing this reflects a genuine about-face to recommit himself to honest law enforcement and undo the damage to the FBI he caused when he fixed the previous investigation to let Hillary slide.
I think Comey is faking the recommitment in order to stop those who (after he let her slide) began uncovering evidence of the FBI's investigation being corrupted by Hillary & company.
I just heard Cong. Louie Gomert say that by reopening the investigation Comey gave himself an excuse to refuse to answer any questions about whether the FBI investigation has been corrupted.
I do agree with you on the need for someone at the FBI to do what John Dean did during the Watergate scandal.

But I believe that a political “Op. Valkyrie” is playing out in real time.
If Comey thinks the coming evidence is damning, he’ll want to be on the “legal” side. He’s an amoral greedy prick. He’s like the Nazi general that won’t quite commit when Tom Cruz is trying flip him. Then he backstabs Cruise. You know what I mean. Comey wants to wind up on the winning side, either way.
