Obamacare’s Architect Reveal His Master Plan To Fix The Law: Bigger Penalties
thefederalist.com ^ | October 26, 2016

'The law's working as designed. . . However, it could work better. . . we need a larger mandate penalty.'

Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber joined CNN on Wednesday morning to say the best way to fix the failing health-care law he engineered would be to increase the “penalty.”

A recent study found that Obamacare insurance plans will cost many Americans about 22 percent more next year. For some — like those in Phoenix, Arizona — the cost is much worse, about a 145 percent increase. Since the news broke earlier this week, the Obama administration has frantically been trying to spin the news.

Well; I don’t consider myself to be a GOPer (more of a Constitutionalist) but lets give it a try, shall we?
1: Allow everybody to create and own a tax free medical/health care account.
2: Allow all health care and health insurance companies to compete for business across state lines (no artificial barriers).
3: Allow health care portability for people who are moving to another city or state.
4: For the young and stupid who don’t think they need health care or don’t want to pay for it; calculate the median costs of a doctors visit, emergency room care, maternity care, etc. etc.
Calculate the median costs of these services nation wide; that is the bill the patient will be responsible for paying over a 20 month period (to be extended if the bill is huge), the payment can be voluntary or through wage garnishment, if were talking about the chronicaly unemployed (the sick, lame, lazy, or crazy) the debt can be paid through public service at a local hospital (good job training also).
Pre existing conditions can be insured through a specialty group of insurers that insure those patients only; yes, the costs would be higher but it could be made to work.
Those are just some ideas; maybe good, maybe bad, but it’s better than what you have now.

There is a point where higher costs and higher penalties cross, beyond which either results in collapse.

Look kid; just go back to Canada or England or Sweden or France and wait in line for their state provided health care.
I am pretty sure you don’t have to worry about prostate cancer, but when the lung cancer kills you from all that youthful dope smoking while your waiting in line, just remember THE HEALTH CARE IS FREEEEE.

we're just the idiots sold down the river by this country...

what would we do?....desolve it entirely....let people buy insurance across state lines and let people buy insurance if they want for their needs only....

So help me, Gruber would be in the dock if we were ever to hold a Nuremberg-style trial for the Leftist leadership.

How many have died because they lost their insurance? Does Gruber have blood on his hands?

Without higher taxes how else can Obamacare pay for free sex-changes?

How about that! Progressive ideas only work by force.

But the GOP virtually did nothing to help Ted Cruz when he was on the floor of the senate for 24 filibustering to stop obamacare. ...although in retrospect that was all a set up staged for CRuz to run for president and CRuz (and the globalist Bushes he works for) had no intention of stopping obamacare...

> I agree. The increased penalty should be Zero and Gruber go to prison for the rest of their natural lives.

I'd personally rather see a noose around his neck.

The dems had the right idea on this.

Incorrect.

It is not a good system, but we had none.

Also incorrect.

We had a system where the majority of people had health insurance (which is quite different from health care) and those that did not had various government and charity options.

The system actually worked.

Now we have a system where less and less people have health insurance that covers less and less, charities are being forced not to help and the various government programs are FUBAR.

No I posted as Cringing Negativism Network until this year.

I have been overseas, and did not want to use that login. Now I’m sort of just using the new one.

I am not Murry Mom. :D

What would we as the GOP, do differently? Do not simply criticize the alternative, if we have no idea ourselves how to fix things.

1. Calling the posters and lurkers on FR "we, the GOP" ain't cool.

2. The Obamacare law is thousands of pages long, expecting any one on here to give you a 100 or 200 word fix to it is unrealistic. I would have to write a several hundred thousand word post to explain the problems and potential solutions for Obamacare.

3. When they got rid of that whole pre-existing condition clause, what did you think would happen?

Well, I don’t think the law can “work”, but, inasmuch as the core concept is higher taxes to pay for medical care of people who otherwise would pay nothing, with those higher taxes called “penalties”, then, yes, they have to be much higher or the system will collapse.
