If my Dad came from South America but had an English surname does that make me Hispanic, White or just an American?
If you were born here or are legally naturalized, and sincerely believe in and live by our Constitution and its attendant Bill of Rights, and are ‘ in very fact an American and nothing but an American’, then you are an American.
This doesn’t preclude any appreciation or respect toward your ancestors, and the cultural richness that you may have inherited; but has to do with your ultimate national loyalty.
It’s a wonderful thing to be an American.
