It’s what most voters fear when they go in to fill out their ballots.
Early voting for the 2016 election started today (Monday, October 24th). The people of Potter and Randall County are taking this opportunity to skip the long lines that always file out of the voting locations on Election Day. It’s common to see pictures of the “I Voted!” stickers on social media. It’s not as common to see the stories I’ve been seeing today. Two voters from Canyon posted the experience they had while voting. Apparently, when these voters chose the straight Republican option, the ballot selected Clinton/Kaine instead of Trump/Pence.

Pretty back water. I just got a post it is happening in Big Bend county east of El Paso, Texas. In the primary it happened in the capitol of Texas and near by counties. They have a real disaster in Texas.

I voted early and marked my ballot straight republican but made sure that it was Trump I voted for.
I worked elections in Bosque county off and on for 25 years. I do not like the transition from manual counts to machines. I now live in Hill county, I do not opt for machine voting but choose a paper ballot so there is a solid record in case of recount. Still, I do not like that they count paper ballot with machines. Too much room for fraud.

It happens when you write it in to the code. Just before the computer code writes to the file the code reads “if votes = R then
President vp = clinton, Kaine end

In Hamilton County,TX ALL ballots are on paper ballots. If you use a machine, you first insert the paper ballot and make your selection. It marks the ballot for you. I ALWAYS mark the ballot manually. I don’t trust the machine either. Nevertheless, you still place your “Machine Marked” paper ballot in the box. I don’t know why any other county would use electronic ballots.
Never saw this option on a CA ballot.
We must go to a system of back up to double check these hackable and programmable machines. There is NO excuse for this!! They are stealing this election from the people!!

The more populous counties do machine votes supposedly to speed things up. The machines you describe we also used in Bosque county and Hill county. I hated those things as an election judge/worker as I did have problems with them. I’ve been through recounts and I just feel safer with my hand-marked paper ballot. Even if by some horrible event I had to be in a populous county with machines I would request a paper ballot. Just me, from election work experience.
Wouldn't work here in CA. If you wanted to vote "straight Republican", that would mean half of your selections would be blank.
Besides, voting "straight" anything in San Francisco seems pretty incongruous!
