Kathleen Kane gets 10-23 months in jail after tearful plea for leniency (Penn's Hillary)

Former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane will spend 10 to 23 months in a county prison for crimes she committed in pursuit of retribution against a political foe, a judge decided Monday.

Kane pleaded with a judge to spare her teenage sons the pain of being separated from their mother when she spoke Monday during her sentencing in Montgomery County Court.

Kane, convicted in August of two felony counts of perjury and less serious charges of false swearing, obstruction, official oppression and conspiracy, apologized for leaking grand jury secrets in a plot to discredit a foe whom she believed was responsible for a negative newspaper article.

That tactic was part of her smokescreen.

She made various misrepresentations, one of which was that she was being singled out for persecution by the old boys' network because she was investigating their emailing pornography to each other.

Some of the emails were pretty disgusting, but she never really did elaborate on what crime was being broken, and it's likely she tried initially to use the emails to extort forgiveness from some of the officials who eventually went after her.

She was definitely a friend to corrupt Democratic politicians which makes we wonder why she was ever prosecuted. Maybe attacking Mondersie was the reason.

Kane also acknowledged the harm she caused to the reputation of the late Philadelphia civil rights leader Jerry Mondesire,

Mondesire was head of the Philly NAACP.

Yeah, I always wondered why Nutter was threatening to continue the prosecution that she had shut down under his own jurisdiction (possible, since the reps involved were all Philly.) He might have wanted to hammer her for that very reason.

Kane, and no one else, is the reason that she is separated from her teenage sons. Its all on her, not the judge.
