With Donald Trumps chances of winning the White House narrowing, its not too soon to ask: If Hillary Clinton wins the presidency in November, what attitude should Democrats and Republicans alike take toward Trump voters? It will be tempting to excoriate or patronize them, or to woo them to your cause. But all of these approaches would be mistaken. A much better strategy -- for both parties -- is to engage in selective memory, and to treat Trump voters as though the whole sorry episode of his candidacy never occurred.

If the GOP keeps trying to ignore tens of millions of its base and what they want, then we can all forget the Republican Party ever happened.
Hard to even IMAGINE a conservative white Democrat of the male variety in 2001 or any time thereafter. (or for many years before, for that matter)
I remember reading the day before the NYC primary that Mark Green was at long last going to win an election ... the D nomination was pretty much all that was needed in NYC, especially since Rudy was term-limited out. Of course, we all know what happened the actual day of the primary.
Bloomberg had Rudy’s blessing, and mountains of sympathy .. so he ended up winning. THEN he had the $$$ to put in some features that the City Council wouldn’t fund, managed to get reelected, and switch parties again. He’s certainly an odd duck.

True. Alan Hevesi was another white conservative Queens Democrat that couldn’t win the 2001 Democratic mayoral nomination, let alone mayor. Sharpton would have been VEXED that Hevesi was campaigning in Staten Island and Queens for Jewish and middle class votes.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.....If you want to change the system, the only SANE thing to do is vote Trump.
