Bob Dylan’s Nobel Prize mention deleted from his website

JTA - The fallout from Bob Dylan’s Nobel Prize in Literature has taken a strange turn: The Jewish folk singer’s website has taken down its only brief mention of the award.

Dylan has not acknowledged the award at any of his performances in the week since the Nobel committee’s Oct. 13 announcement, but his website made one allusion to it this week on a page promoting a new collection of his lyrics, “The Lyrics: 1961: 2012.” The page on bobdylan.com simply called him the “winner of the Nobel Prize in literature.”

As of Friday morning, the reference has been erased without explanation.

The Swedish Academy has tried and failed multiple times to contact Dylan through close associates of his since the award announcement. Sara Danius, the Nobel academy’s secretary, told Swedish radio on Monday that the academy has given up attempting to contact him and could not confirm whether he would attend the award ceremony in Stockholm on Nov. 10.

Numerous publications have noted that celebrities often do not control the content of their public websites, so it is conceivable that Dylan had no input about the award’s mention on his site.

Could it be that the Literature award has been sullied by its association with the Piece award?

I hope they don’t award it to Bruce Springsteen next year!

The Nobel peace prize was reduced to a broken fisher price toy when the a##clown received it for breathing and nothing more. Isn’t it amazing that he still hasn’t done great things in 8 years, aw they had great expectations and since he is a so called black man they will never ask for it back for fear of being called a racist

I hope the Nobel organization sets off its own dynamite on itself some day soon.

Dylan is probably one of the greatest artists of my lifetime. Still, he’s as crazy as the day is long.

Good for you, Zimmy. Any awards association that gives a peace prize to Obama, when he hadn't done anything to earn one is a bogus award and brings shame on the 'noble' inventor of dynamite (pronounced by Bullwinkle J Moose as Dy-Nam-Mitt-Eee)

He’s done great things. Very bad great things, causing the deaths of thousands.

Johnny Cash, David Brubeck, Louis Armstrong, John Lennon, Benny Goodman, and many others are as good or better than Bob Z.

Looks like they’re getting the real Dylan. They should be excited.

You deserve a prize for coming up with the phrase “very bad great things.” That’s a good one for Obama’s tombstone.

Since Al Gore, Obama and Hillary(another October surprise!} have all won the Nobel prize for their accomplishments, maybe Bob Dylan is humiliated by being named...

What were they thinking? Being born in Minnesota doesn’t make him Scandinavian.

When Yassir “That’s My Baby” Arafat, the godfather of modern islamic terrorism, received a Nobel Piece Prize, it marked the final nail in its coffin.

The Byrds’ cover of “My Back Pages” is one of my all time favorite songs as is Dylan’s “Like A Rolling Stone”.

I’ve never been a big Bob Dylan fan but I respect his art.

After all that has happened so far, I think the Nobel committee needs Dylan more than he needs them.

Overall, awards are a joke. A great artist can’t be judged until his work has stood the test of time.

LOL! Looks like the Nobel folks are so proud of themselves that they consider it a slap to be ignored for turning it into a popularity contest designed to help them feel even prouder of themselves. Nobel is rolling over in his grave.

I haven’t followed this at all but it is odd that Dylan won’t acknowledge or welcome the recognition.

I wonder if they’ll read the lyrics of Lay Lady Lay when they present him his award.
