my brother lived in a Indian village up in Alaska and he said it was real bad in that village everyone knew and only occasionally would there be an investigation and that only happen when you had a 12 year old show up pregnant at the hospital

Could be. I can see a judge not wanting to come down hard on a POC and risk being called racist.

Hellary would say it’s too harsh a punishment.

He’s still getting more than the rapist of a 12-year old HRC defended, who’d put the kid into a comma for 5 days. HRC get that jerk of for time served, less than this jerk’s time.

Prosecute the judge as an accessory after the fact. He is helping the guy escape justice. That is a crime.

He's not "helping the guy escape justice," he just has a different view of justice than you do. Unless there is some evidence of bribery or other corruption, impeachment (or possibly recall) is the only available option, and even that might be a stretch, unless he violated some law regarding minimum sentencing.

I'm not sure what the process is for removing a county judge in Montana (or if he's appointed or elected), but I doubt disagreement over sentencing is valid reason for impeachment (although it might suffice if he's subject to recall.) A previous poster says he's about to retire; if that's true, I doubt anyone will expend the energy to remove him.

Well..., I’m not sure what is reasoned in that neck of the woods, but 60 days for raping your own twelve year old daughter?

Prosecute the judge. If that isn’t a criminal act, then our judicial system is really screwed up.

Your comments sound reasoned, but this does go beyond the pale. And I don’t think this is just my opinion BTW:

Generally speaking, impeachment can be done for just about any reason.

High crimes and misdemeanors means crimes and misdemeanors in high office - period. It does not - not - mean high (as in lofty) crimes and misdemeanors (after all, a high misdemeanor would be like a towering hillock - an oxymoronic absurdity).

A misdemeanor (bad face) is by definition a small thing, and letting a serial pedophilia rapist off with virtually no time served is far, far above that low bar!

You folks in Montana should be up in arms about this.

My guess is this decision was far more economic than anything else... There is usually far more to any story than headlines... And most of the real story never gets told.

I had to guess, and not defending but guessing, poor rural family with other extenuating circumstance and putting him away would likely destitute an already struggling situation. Don’t know, but guessing this isn’t just some pedophile judge being lenient... Not condoning it, at all... But betting there is more to this.

That would be a horrible situation, if they need his income to survive.

Because he will keep raping the girl and it sounds like ma and grandma will look away.

The BEST stepfather I ever knew worked with me at an investment bank.

The father was hispanic and disappeared to his native home and my friend stepped right up.

He died of cancer at 40. Figures.

Again I am not defending the situation at all, and my conjecture could be completely off, but I just doubt this is just some judge being lenient to a pedophile.
