DIVIDED AMERICA: Seeing options shrinking, white men ask why
Santa Cruz Sentinel ^ | 10/20/16 | MATT SEDENSKY

The voices cascade into the studio, denouncing political hypocrisy and media bias and disappearing values. Hillary Clinton is a liar and a crook, they say; Donald Trump is presidential and successful. By the time the 16th caller reaches the air, Rick Roberts' show has reached an impassioned crescendo of anger and lamentation.

What has happened to this once-great land? What has happened to the better lives our children were promised? What has happened?

"What's made their lives more difficult is not what they think," said Michael Kimmel, a Stony Brook University professor who studies masculinity and wrote the book "Angry White Men." ''LGBT people didn't outsource their jobs. Minorities didn't cause climate change. Immigrants didn't issue predatory loans from which they now have lost their houses and everything they ever had. These guys are right to be angry, but they're delivering the mail to the wrong address."

Why in my small Central California coastal city are 85% of the births at the community hospital paid for by the taxpayers. Why are 85% of the school kids getting subsidized breakfast and lunch at school. Why can't kids wear red or blue clothing to school for fear of gang violence. Why was a 5 year old girl gunned down in gang warfare cross fire. That's the big why.

The professor is pushing his false version of reality. Most of the problems can be summed up in two words: “Progressive policies.”

Liberals were allowed to pervert this once great country into the cesspool it has become, thanks in large part to a bunch of limp-wristed candy assess passing themselves off as “conservative” representatives and, to an even larger part - the people themselves. Whining about it on Rick Roberts show isn’t going to accomplish anything, especially since I heard him say yesterday that liberals are no different from us - asserting they “want jobs, don’t want higher taxes or open borders”... surreal.

Leftists never acknowledge that the housing collapse was due to the Community Reinvestment Act. The banks were forced to offer those predatory loans (loans to people who couldn’t afford the houses) by being threatened with penalties. They had to be able to show a certain percentage of the ‘predatory’ loans, period. No Leftists ever point out it was themselves that created the housing crisis. And when the Dems were elected to a majority in the House and Senate in 2006, GWB’s Admin’s epitaph was written.......’BUSHES FAULT’. Forevermore.

The elites continue to blame the victim. Blowback is coming.

Being a liberal means never having to say you’re sorry for anything.

Yes, and the victims are not just “white males”. Far from it. Black children are real victims. Black families (even Democrat Patrick Moynihan acknowledged that years ago when there were a FEW honest Ds left) are continuously assaulted.

Legal immigrants are victimized as Trump pointed out last night. They played by the rules, but the illegals are hurting them.

Women like Kate Steinle (spelling?) pay the ultimate price.

Religious small business owners are being assaulted.

No, the LIBERAL DEMOCRAT policies are hurting more than just white males.

The reason banks and mortgage providers were not hurt too badly for the subprime mortgage loans, for the most part, was due to the ability of the financial institutions to sell the subprime loans into the secondary market, which was subsidized by FNMA, GNMA, etc., Federally sponsored corporations. These agencies securitized the mortgages, whether prime, alt-A, or subprime, which were purchased by large investment firms and money center banks. It was Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, etc., that served as middlemen, pushing financial risk away from the originating bank or mortgage company. These institutions were centers of Democrat patronage. The second Bush administration failed to crack down on this racket, out of fear of offending powerful Democrat politicians like Barney Frank.

This failure is but one example of why we should not support a RINO Administration, and should be thankful that Trump beat Jeb Bush, Rubio, Kasich, etc., during the primary season. A Trump administration will not fear to confront Democrat bullies and whiners.

The CIRA was really a very small part of the problem. What really drove this was the massive number of previously creditworthy people defaulting on mortgages due to a combination of two things: (1) poor decisions about buying homes at inflated prices, and (2) job losses in the 2008-2010 period.

When things get to the point where it is intolerable white men don’t protest or riot. No, white men do is form infantry regiments. They are playing with fire.

Why were there so many job losses during that period?

''LGBT people didn't outsource their jobs.

No one said they did. But they perverted the meaning of marriage and normalized behavior that has been considered disgusting for centuries.

Minorities didn't cause climate change.

Nobody caused climate change. It doesn't exist. And it's the last thing conservatives are worried about.

Immigrants didn't issue predatory loans from which they now have lost their houses and everything they ever had.

By "predatory loans," do you mean the loans the government FORCED banks to give to avoid charges of discriminatory lending?

These guys are right to be angry, but they're delivering the mail to the wrong address."

That's because apologists like this keep scribbling over the original address. Conservatives are angry, and they're angry at all the right people. It remains to be seen if that anger is enough to overcome the ennui and inertia of the status quo.

Yes the Great Society is a big problem. But that doesn’t explain the loss of opportunity that the article is talking about by itself. On one hand the economy isn’t as strong as it once was, where the USA had 50% of the world’s GNP. But on another big level the problems of the birth control pill, sexual revolution, affirmative action and dual income families and no fault divorce all play big parts.

Once a woman would get married and have kids. By her late 20s, 80% of women had a child who was born in 1940. Now it’s about half of that. And of those 40% of 20 something mothers, many (most?) work. So men compete with both men AND women for jobs. Throw in affirmative action and white men are now disadvantaged for jobs/college opportunities. Women working really is the big force in less opportunities for men. I don’t think the example of a tide lifting all boats applies here. The country needs X number of doctors for example. One female doctor means one less male doctor. And then you have more dollars per household chasing the same number of homes and apartments. Rental rates in most urban areas have skyrocketed. This means a man’s paycheck is not only lower, but doesn’t pay the basics of life as well as a generation or two ago.

Now top it all off with no fault divorce and the feminist culture. Men have to do more than ever. I never saw my grandfather’s generation have expectations to wash dishes or get up in the middle of the night to feed an infant. No their status was head of the household and they got treated by their wives with much more respect than women give their husbands today. So less incentive to settle down and more punishment for having a failed marriage.

Of course women want a man who is “marriage material” so this hurts everyone.

Plus the inflated ratings mortgage bonds got from crooked services like Moody’s and S&P that valued pure junk at BB and even A levels. So funds were trading securities for millions of dollars that weren’t worth anything. When the first card was pulled out, the whole house collapsed.
