Oh, good grief.

Assange is just the public face of Wikileaks.

All the heavy lifting is done behind the scenes by anonymous volunteers.

And, I can think of at least three different ways that Assange could continue to communicate, even if the Ecuadorean embassy cut him off.

I suspect Assange has little to do with the day to day operations of WikiLeaks. He created it, but he’s just the face of it these days. WikiLeaks has a team of people working on it.

You just pissed them off.

He had the files/folders stored/backed up to several remote servers, all encrypted with 64 bit keys.
Location of same was somehow shared with other wiki/anon contacts, sans the keys, until now.
When he triggered his dead man's switch, the keys were released to those contacts, possibly with some kind of date/time constraint built in.
Contacts would only be able to decrypt the ones corresponding to the pre-set date/time constraint.

The Deep web alone ensures that they will always have backups of the backups of the backups.

Give the files to a few guys in remote locations and they can put them uot on the torrents at a moments notice.

Short answer: the content was copied to dozens of portable flash drives, hard drives and SD cards, passed hand-to-hand and uploaded by trusted confidants from safe locales.

In the book Collateral Crimes, the government was trying to stifle a new media journalist. They even when so far as to put her in prison. But she had registered her domain in Hong Kong and published her blog on an Content Distribution Network, so when the government brought a server down with a Denial of Service Attack, the other servers took up the slack. She also posted all her articles on WordPress with the dates set so the posts became active at specific times.

It’s not like the guy has these file sitting on his laptop and he has no internet so I can’t email them

These files are sitting out on servers all over the world..

that’s where the crypto Keys went out to decrypt them there’s a lot of people involved he’s just the face

The irony is WikiLeaks doesn’t operate like Hillary Clinton’s email server

It’s not on a server sitting in his closet in his bathroom... he has a real infrastructure out there in the cloud
