More than 170 countries agreed early Saturday morning to limit emissions of key climate change-causing pollutants found in air conditioners, a significant step in the international effort to keep global warming from reaching catastrophic levels.
The deal reached in Kigali, Rwanda, comes after years of wrangling over HFCsshort for hydrofluorocarbonsand could on its own prevent a 0.5°C (0.9°F) rise in temperature by 2100. Scientists say such an achievement could be crucial to the goal laid out in last years Paris Agreement of holding global temperature rise below 2°C (3.6°F) by 2100. (snip)
Adopting an ambitious amendment to phase down the use and production of hydrofluorocarbonsor HFCsis likely the single most important step that we could take at this moment to limit the warming of our planet, Secretary of State John Kerry said in Kigali, in remarks before the passage of the agreement. Countries also agreed last month to a landmark measure, known as the ICAO Agreement, to cap emissions from international air transport. Greenhouse gas emissions from the aviation industry currently total about as much as those of Germany, not a small amount, and experts say that sum will grow as the world becomes even more mobile. (snip)
Still many experts say that international efforts have moved too slowly as research continues to highlight the scale and effects of global warming. Scientists say 2016 will top last year as the hottest year on record and, during some months, temperature rise already seemed to veer close to the 2°C benchmark.

Not to worry, a muslim astronaut team has volunteered to undertake this dangerous mission at night
With SPF 90,000 Sunscreen, no doubt.
There is so much wrong with this. These dolts want to cause more people to die from extreme weather in order to prevent an imaginary temperature rise that is indistinguishable from natural variability?
How many people will now die from the heat?
The young and the elderly will be most affected, this is a most vile form of population control. Of course the elite won’t be bothered because they are so important.
This could be the start of the next Civil War. I live in Houston, and this area is basically uninhabitable without A/C. We’re still in the 90s here.
“Scientists say “...sounds more like preachin ‘.
Will the Ammonia Cooling Cycle help?
I don’t mean help the glow-bull warming, but help if HCFCs are banned.
Check to see if Soros and Buffet are long on Ammonia.
As wilh everything Obama and the Rats do, the issue is not the issue; this is all about power and control and the enrichment of the ruling oligarchy.
Great. Third worlders in Rwanda deciding whether or not Americans can use air conditioners. I don’t think we’re in America anymore, Toto. Aren’t the “democrats” the same turds who cry and wring their hands every summer because the poor and elderly people in the big cities are dying because they don’t have air conditioners or the electricity goes out? This seems to be a little hypocritical to me.
What makes us cooler makes us hotter. I see.
Less air conditioning? It is something just like this that will finally be the tipping point. It won’t be immigration, the economy or even Supreme Court appointees that get the unengaged more involved, it will be no air conditioning in the heat of the summer months. Now that is something to fight about! I am being sarcastic, but I stand behind my prediction.
What ever happened to the Acid Rain that was falling through the Ozone Hole in the Atmosphere onto the extinct Polar Bears?

First it froze, then it closed off the ozone hole. Polar bears say thank you.
Are special snowflakes already so cool they don’t need AC? I’m betting...no.
