I suspect that in the age group that counts, this issue is of no importance. They will be watching.
I’d like to believe otherwise and would be pleasantly surprised if that turned out to be the case.
The debates are cutting in no doubt, but there are plenty of games when no debates are on, and they aren’t doing well then either.

The silent threat to the NFL is the aging of the baby boom. The NFL was born and bred on the fanatical loyalty of the boomers to "NFL Today," a Sunday afternoon institution of unprecedented intensity in television. The addition of Monday Night Football with Howard Cosell, Frank Gifford and Dandy Don Meredith cemented the loyalty of a generation. Once in the seventies while traveling in the South, I stopped at a gas station, bought a pack of cigarettes, and picked up a book of matches with the cover logo "Church of Monday Night Football."
Those days have gone and will not return. Times change, and the NFL will never regain the primacy it once held. The Kaepernick stupidity is merely the latest function to fail.
