I'm pondering a different label, and of a mind that some sort of generic "false-outrage-gate" won;t cut the mustard, just because the press fabricates so many of them and it's useful to be able to distinguish between them.

Although, come to think of it, when the subject is elections, the press is perpetually "off topic" of governing the country. This is no accident. The people are conditioned to bread and circuses while the elites pillage and rape.
