I’m surprised that drug use/addiction are not a factor in the equation. Drugs render some men simply unemployable. A certain percentage also turn homeless because they don’t want the restraints of responsibility put upon them.
But I LOL at the correlation that the biggest predictor of a man working for an income is ta-da! marriage. You betcha that wife is not going to be quiet if her man seems uninterested in looking for a job. She’ll let him know - subtly or not-so-subtly - that he better get his butt out there and be the economic mule of the household.
Ironically, far more women attend college now than men and women are often more employable for the sort of low-wage low-skill jobs the Obama Administration has left behind after the better jobs moved overseas.
But they have “free” health care thanks to Obama. Yeah, right.
It is amazing how concerned the media gets when white men adopt the habits that many black men have had for 50 years; they demonize them on the one hand then bemoan their withdrawal on the other.
The financial jobs in my area are heavily populated by women; even if men find jobs they have to deal with less-qualified token bosses from “preferred” groups (installed to fend off lawsuits). At my job I see in effect a faux workplace, where a dozen “others” are paid to produce the work of half as many men; I’ve adjusted my workday accordingly.
