I have to say, I’ve been watching the data buoys in and around the hurricane, and I don’t see the wind speed numbers they’re reporting. The rotation of the storm on radar seems “loose” and less organized.
WUWT has an article on Matthew gaining a second eye which will eventually kill off the inner eye making the wind speeds lower.

...
I’ve been doing the same with private weather stations. Bimini had top sustained winds of 33 mph. Along the coast of Florida I can’t find anything over 50 mph sustained.
Ahhh, facts... such a messy concept for drama queen government types and their hysterical followers in the MSM... That said it's hard to believe our government officials would lie to us... /s
A very large AMEN to that!
In my searches of Buoys, weather stations and emails from friends, I came to the same conclusions.
Freepers last night were on this BIG time1
I was listening to the radio this morning, and the reporter on the scene was saying that the wind speed observed on the ground was 60 mph, but that wind speeds at altitude were as high as 100 mph.
The national news then came on, saying that winds were 100 mph.
Ever since then, every outlet has been reporting 100 mph.
Who gives a damn what the wind speed is at 2000 ft above the ground? Unless you are in an airplane, which I would not recommend, that figure is irrelevant.
Where do you get that info?
I just went through Matthew last night. I also went through Francis and Jeanne in ‘04. Francis and Jeanne were much rougher than this one. It is good to be prepared, but this one was scaring people just for a political agenda (so called climate change).
