It will be the storm surge ..that does the most damage if it is ten feet

My kid was in Galveston for Ike and got four foot of water in the house..

It was the Bolivar peninsula that got swept clean by the storm surge

Had some calls from northern relatives and friends as to the situation where I live (central Florida gulf coastal area, from Clearwater north on up the coast, Pasco county, etc.).

All is calm, no rain, low-lying clouds in tiers all around us but they're just hanging there doing nothing, sun just set in a low bright, clear horizon to the southwest, mild wind, palm fronds outside my windows dancing a little more than they were an hour ago, but they're doing a measured two-step, not a polka.

So far so good.
